The vibe at Boot Mesa

This is the most amazing backcountry camping experience. You follow the host out with your 4WD vehicle (recommended) or they'll give you a ride if you don't have one, out into a peaceful clearing at the foot of a stunning mesa. There are a ton of place to choose to sleep with several fire pits waiting for you. Amazing views out toward Monument Valley for sunrise and beautiful sunset over the mesa where you can take a trail up along the ridge and get a 360 degree view of the amazing landscape. You're all alone and private back here on reservation lands and it's definitely a one of a kind experience. I'd recommend asking to do the horseback ride with their uncle who will take you riding in the backcountry, and not on a regulated guide led tour. All in all one of the best camping experiences I've had and 100% would recommend it to everyone.
What a great place and great location! We booked for Boot Mesa but found the already setup tent was a better option.. Saved us having to do a lot of setup after traveling all day. It was great! Thanks for the hospitality. Mark and Jennafer were great hosts too!
My friends and I agree that Boot Mesa was the coolest campground we've seen. Mark led us into our camping spot and we enjoyed the remoteness of it. The stars were unlike anything we had ever seen, and we all decided to wake up early and watch the sunrise from the mesa. I highly recommend staying here, and I also sent one of my friends here right after we stayed there.
Boot Mesa was amazing! The solitude next to a gorgeous and imposing monolith was an unforgettable experience. Mark the host was very nice and very helpful! Highly recommend especially for the photographs at sunset.
This is a cool campsite, nice people, but it isn't great if the weather calls for a chance of rain. It is very far off the main road which makes it very private, but that is also a little unnerving, particularly if you don't have a 4-wheel, off-roading car.
