Great host, very friendly. We wish we had more time at the site to use the grill! Great location just off the highway on route to to the canyon. The little extra touches you had there for us were great and we look forward to coming back to see how your plans work out for the place!
Great spot and host!
Mike is a really caring, generous guy that helped me out in so many different ways. He is still working on the camp, updating different parts of the site to make it safer, more secluded, and nicer overall. Highly reccomend!
Quiet place near grand canyon
Great spot to stay if you’re planning on heading into the Grand Canyon and you don’t want to be around crowds. It’s about 30 minutes south, and off the road so you’re not bothered by much. Mike is also a great host and a really nice guy - I kept to myself but he made sure I was comfortable and checked to make sure I was all set when a snowstorm showed up!
Ideal location for grand canyon np
Mike is an excellent host who goes above and beyond expectations to ensure a comfortable stay at his campsites. Ideal location for exploring area parks including Grand Canyon NP, Meteor Crater National Landmark, and national forests in the greater Flagstaff, AZ area. I spent 5 nights here and I saw beautiful sunsets illuminate the San Francisco Peaks and had a couple nice nights of stargazing. I would be more than happy to stay here again!
Awesome stay in the desert!
Mike was such a thoughtful and attentive host! The camp right on 64 and trips to Grand Canyon were easy and super close. We had a great two night stay and our site featured the best fire pit I have ever used. We cooked our dinner over it both nights and had great results from the perfectly generated heat from Mike’s design. Great value, great location, great host.
Great and full camping experience
Host was extremely helpful and accommodating making our stay wonderful. The campsite is perfect for campers who want to get the full camping experience.
Stay here, you won't regret it.
Best hipcamp experience I've ever had. Mike and Brian were the consummate hosts. They made sure we had a great night, including a brief geography lecture of what you can see from the campground and their future plans for the campsites. The views are nearly endless, with Arizona's tallest peak and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon both clearly visible from the loo. Yes, you read that correctly, their loo view is better than most views, full stop. The stars were incredible as well with the milky way clearly in view even on a bright night.
Never found it.
I never found it. Mike's directions and no signs made it impossible. He was not helpful. I asked people who lived near the gate and they said they had never heard of the street names. It all seemed bad, so we left and stayed in a NF camp. I got long texts from Mike essentially blaming me and saying that I needed to let off steam. Customer service at it's worst.
