See the Comet!... Clear skys.. If you like that sort of thing... One of the few places in AZ to see all stars.. Neighbor was an astronomer...

Some campers say they had a mixed time. I want everyone to understaand my home is here too.. It's 6 acres within 20,00 acres. Ok to park near home and use the Composter. but this is a place for people that want to see stars, hike, 4 whl drive et al.. bring pets.. but DON"T camp near my home... that's the only developed area for miles... walk away from the car , and my house... Find the old mines and logging roads nearby.. get a nice secluded spot.. No hint of civilization if you do.

I think each guest said they had an awesome time, but I see 3 bad reviews.. 2 from same group. They were all nice campers, very responsible. I'm sorry they were disapointed. If you walk a bit away from the parking area you will be all alone... with the bears, lions, ringtale cats and stars.. That's why I live there.

A very romantic area below the road, down the creek, or off the road on the SE ridge. Nothing but wildlands there.

Pitch your tent on our six acres and take a hike around Spruce Mountain and Prescott National Forest. The property has a gold-bearing creek that runs it and is full of pine trees, cedars, agaves and scrub oak forest. You'll likely see ringtail cats, spotted owls, Mt lions, javalina, horned toads and more wildlife.

We're within a 1 hour drive to Prescott, Jerome, Sedona and 2 hours to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. It's in the exact center of AZ.

Great climbing nearby on Granite Dells, Granite Mt, Thumb Butte.

This is a great place for families and groups, as there is only 1 campsite so you'll have privacy. There is a composting toilet building that is available.

This is a wilderness type place that I built and off grid homestead at. I'm often not home, so you have the place to yourself. I'm the only person that uses the road, which has been erased from official maps.

GPS will NOT get you here, so please call me ahead of time. The google map is accurate on photo view. When you get here you will see a barn and a two story Octagonal small home.

Six acres of goodness tucked against Prescott National Forest. Lovely views and exploring opportunities at every turn. Listen to the wind blow through the canyon as you breathe in the rich smell of pine. A truly magical experience in the mountains of Arizona. 4x4 is a must to get to this site.

Went with some friends who booked us the site, there were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids.

Pros -
-Secluded location with lots of room to explore as well as trails to follow. We walked up to the fire lookout at Spruce Mountain which was a nice uphill walk. Only saw 3 ATVs with people during our time and one neighbor that stopped by.
-Having a full sized grill to use was awesome, would have made dinner time twice as long with what we brought if that hadn't been available.
-Marc was very responsive and chatty with assisting as needed.

Cons-
-The property has lots of treasures on it some not so safe, there are crates with nails and other things laid around the property of what looks like projects that are awaiting completion. Not horrible but something to know that isn't shown in the photos.
-It's mentioned in other reviews but you do need 4WD to get to the property, there is a site you could camp at half way up the drive which might be okay but would be far from the toilet and you'd still have to hike up from where you park. We had one 4WD car so made 2 trips with our gear and left one car at the bottom which worked fine.
- Saving the best for last - the compostable toilet was fine and what you expect other than the deck. The first night just after arriving in the daylight I stepped on the deck outside the toilet and my foot went through and the board popped up and hit me in the face giving me a nice egg and subsequent black eye as well as breaking my glasses and busting my lip. The board was not nailed into the deck at all, no nail holes. My friend checked the other boards and found many of them loose. I'm lucky it wasn't worse and glad it was me not one of the kids but this should be addressed. We left it with the loose board missing but overall it needs to be looked at as many of the nails aren't affixed into the joists.

The drive where the 2WD car gets stuck. The AWD car had difficulty at the same spot. Our campsite for our couple of days.

Really sorry about my projects, yes.. 28 years worth facing completion. But it's 6 acres.. I advertise it for people that want to hike around.. 6 acrres in the middle of 20,000 acres. I don't really rent out the house or compost building, I just mention it's OK to use. I expected people would park where the house is and hike up and away from it... b ut people seem to stay around house. A bit odd. You were very gracious guest. If I can ever get home again, like I was suposed to in March, I could make some upgrades... I hope you come back.

Marc was a great host who answered all my questions quickly. His property is remote (no close neighbors) which is great but challenging to get to. You definitely need a rugged 4x4! The woods surrounding the property are beautiful, fun to explore and there is a small fresh water spring to explore. The views from the high elevation were really enjoyable as well. The toilet on site was simple but clean and definitely a plus when camping. Close in to his house and barn there are a lot of construction items and half finished work projects that could pose a hazard to children or the unaware... One of our guests unfortunately hurt themselves on a deck board leading up to the toilet that wasn't completely screwed in.

I wish I could keep everyone safe, but there are catus, rattlesnakes, and loose deck boards... Less loose deck boards further up hill on some of the abandoned roadfs. It's 6 VERTICLE acres.. very steep, very remote (not enough for me)... Sorry. I wish you had a better time. I did not see this review. These were wonderful people... I kinda thought I'd get couples that want to be alone. This was the biggest group so far. That's OK, but people should know my house is there on 1/2 an Acre... the other 51/2 acres are all untouched forest. I will try and warn people better.... Ha ha ha "chatty"... not sure anyone ever called me that... must have liked you all. I'm an old mean codger!

Host Marc was great. Site has a ton of potential just a bit cluttered for our taste. Awesome views and very secluded.

Response from Marc, the Host, on July 24th, 2020

At the parking area where my house is , yes, cluttered is a nice term. Nice folks here too... But I expect people to park and have a wilderness experience.. It's 6 acres in 20,000 acres.. There are more camping spots around where we used to have Tipi and guest would camp. I'll try and give better directions. No one has booked since these reviews. I thought eveyone had a good time except the 1st couple last year that got lost, and no one has seen them or the baby since.... no.. joking.. That's only half true. Was it not an awesome place with crazy amount of stars? Adam was a great guest.
