Love Red Lodge

3 sites · RVs, Tents42 acres · Winslow West, AZ
This property has been a dream come true! It's a 42.22 acre property in the high desert of Navajo County, AZ. It is currently the home to my tiny house project (not currently available to rent, but hopefully it will be soon!) and eventually it'll be home to a small vineyard. It is peaceful, calm, and has beautiful views all around. The terrain is rolling grassland with junipers and nearby canyons. Learn more about this land:This is NOT a glamping experience. This is a primitive, remote, off-grid, starry night experience.Camp out on my beautiful, open ranch land with wide views including the San Francisco Peaks to the west. The stars are beautiful and most nights you can see at least 1 planet. The space is rolling grassland with junipers throughout. A wash runs through my property, with slab rocks and lots of wildlife - see jackrabbits, deer, coyotes, and even the extremely endangered Mexican Grey Wolf. Access a side canyon of Chevelon Canyon by taking about a 1/2 mile walk from the property (directions can be provided!) to get some exercise in and explore a beautiful Arizona canyon. Native American artifacts have been known to be found in the area - if you find any on the property please admire them and leave them in place :).Select your tent spot anywhere on the property. You have 42 acres to choose from! There are spots where we've had several large tents set up at once just west of the tiny house, down the hill from the stone fire ring on the property. There are also several more spots up hill and between junipers - explore and find your spot! RVs would be best to part in the circular driveway near the tiny house. There aren't other formal roads on the property at this time. There is a tiny house on the property as well as several in-progress art pieces. See the pictures for more details! The tiny house is not currently available for rent, but I expect that down the line I might be able to make it available for Hipcampers. The property is part of Chevelon Canyon Ranch, a ranch with privately owned 40+ acre parcels. There is a ramada and community well, and the dirt roads are maintained by the association. During the drier times of the year the property is accessible by cars, but during rainy seasons and other times of rough weather it's best to access with a higher clearance vehicle. FWD is not usually necessary. The ranch is located about an hour north of Heber, AZ, 3.5 hours from Phoenix.Cell signal is very limited throughout the ranch. My property is positioned with some of the best reception in the ranch, so if you're on Verizon you will likely have a weak to moderate signal most of your stay. Most other carriers (particularly TMobile and Sprint) will have little to no signal after leaving the pavement. Enjoy the disconnected time!

Meteor Crater Camp

30 sites · RVs, Tents79 acres · Leupp, AZ
The dirt road that runs north from the I-40 exit is straight and relatively flat. I drove to the property in a low 2 wheel drive car with no problem. So a large RV should have no problem getting to the camp. Rainfall is very minimal. 79 acres sitting at 4900 foot high desert elevation. Stargaze with only light from your campfire. Distant mountain views (West) towards Flagstaff. The property is completely natural/primitive with natural scrub and tumbleweeds. Beautiful shallow canyons run North to South. One of the largest Meteors hit the Earth millions of years ago less than 3 miles from this primitive/ natural camp!! Yes there are pieces of that meteor, if you look real hard you might see them on property. What a great experience for your kids! I will allow you to take a small souvenir if you stay 2 or more days! Be careful those pieces are from OUTER SPACE! Also the Navajo reservation borders the property on the north, with a barbed wire fence. Meteor Crater National Landmark is literally 6 miles Southwest (as the Raven fly's). Petrified Forest National Park is 35 miles East on I-40. Walnut National Monument is 36 miles West. Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is 46 miles West on I-40 then North on 89. There are several old Navajo and Indian Ruins and early 1900s settlement ruins within a 40 minute drive. God Speed, Have Fun and Be Carefull!

Sun Country campground

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Holbrook, AZ
Explore the Painted Desert wonderland to play around in and stargaze. The campsite is shared with Wild Horses, Pronghorns, Owls and Bovine that wander around the area. Look out to the south and a view of Petrified Forest National Park is right there. And when you're in the park, using binoculars, you can see the campsite from Pintado Point. Just search left from the towers. A fantastic campsite built by independent outdoor company @hetchyoutdoors This is a remote, private campground with a canopy, picnic bench and fire pit that relieves you from the crowds of hotels and RV campgrounds in the area. There are no predators or threats to worry about at night, just the the most stars in the sky you've probably ever seen. Front Row Seat! Petrified Forest!

2 sites · RVs10 acres · Sun Valley, AZ
Learn more about this land:This raw land property, right at the edge of the Petrified Forest National Park, gives you amazing views of and walking access into the park (with an already purchased entrance pass) to the ancient Puerco Pueblo and the stunning views of Newspaper Rock. Cell reception in the area is decent. I had access to TMobile data from the property the last time I was there though not all areas of the park have the same luxury. City folk (like it seems I have sadly become these days) often forget what a beautiful starry night sky can look like. One clear night here and you'll see a sky full of stars, the milky way, planets and maybe a shooting star. As a International Dark Sky Park, the parks nightscape falls on the Bortel scale of 3 (1 being darkest and 9 being brightest). For more info go to www.nps.gov/pefo/learn/nature/darkskies Outside of the Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook, we recommend visiting Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co. and the Navajo County Historical Society Museum. Nearest gas can be found at the Painted Desert Visitor Center or west down I-40 toward Holbrook at the Hopi Travel Plaza. In Holbrook, groceries can be found at Safeway and local restaurants include Camaleon Cafe, Butterfield Stage Co. Steak House and Mandarin Beauty and host of other Mexican and American restaurants. Trucks do come down Adamana Rd to the storage facility during the week though you probably won't hear or see them much. The train can be a bit loud and obnoxious for some (or a something exciting for the kids) depending on how frequently it passes through so ear plugs at night may be advised. I'm usually pretty accessible and close to my phone so feel free to message me with any questions you may have, before during or after your trip! ***Please read all rules and descriptions in the listing thoroughly before booking to make sure this listing is a good fit!*** We look forward to having you!

The best camping near Homolovi State Park guide

Overview

About

The name Homolovi is Hopi for “Place of the Little Hills” and they weren’t kidding. Homolovi State Park is a historic and special place for the Hopi Indians. Travel back in time through the guided tours of the “little hills” including ancient pottery and artifacts of the Hopi people. Don’t miss the Saturday programs scheduled from pottery talks to wood walks. Stay till dark for the Star Party they host annually! This place is more than just a fun time: it’s sacred grounds of a civilization that has loved the land fully. As long as you treat it with respect, you’re on your way to an unforgettable experience.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Homolovi State Park is during the spring and fall when temperatures are mild and the park's beauty is at its peak. Summer months can be extremely hot, making daytime activities challenging. Winter offers cooler days, but be prepared for cold nights. Always check weather conditions before your trip.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's official website for any alerts on closures or safety advisories before planning your visit.
  • Bring plenty of water and sun protection, as the desert climate can be harsh, especially during summer.
  • Respect the archaeological sites; do not remove artifacts or disturb the ruins.
  • Wildlife is abundant; enjoy observing from a distance and do not feed the animals.
  • Facilities such as restrooms and picnic areas are available, but it's wise to bring your own supplies in case of high visitor volume.
