Haak'u Cuervo Canyon Camp is located at an elevation of 5600 feet in the historic 80,000 acre Juniperwood Ranch land preserve which at one time was home to Arizonas largest cattle ranch. Its adjacent to the Kaibab National Forest and San Francisco Mountains. You will be immersed by ancient Juniper trees with twisted and gnarled branches large enough to stand on as well as  Pinyon Pine. There are also several varieties of cactus, agave and yucca. The camp is set along the side of a red rock canyon that offers a great opportunity for hiking. Hiking trails are abundant in the area as are scenic drives. Just the drive to camp from the entry of Juniperwood Ranch is an experience of a lifetime.

There is really no need to leave the camp if you're seeking a sanctuary for refuge and relaxation however if you have a few days and are ready to be adventurous, the Grand Canyon is just 75 miles away.  Historic Williams, a great stop along Old Rt. 66 is only 40 minutes away with Bearizona and the Grand Canyon Railway as well as a few fishing and paddling lakes. Flagstaff with its forested hiking trails and the Snowbowl is 45 an hour away and the Red Rocks of Sedona are only 90 minutes away. You will also be within an hour of Prescott, Arizona's territorial capitol which has a welcoming downtown or you could head over to the mile high Wild West mining town of Jerome that overlooks the Verde Valley.

Haak'u Cuervo features a quiet and peaceful place to relax after your day adventures. It's an off grid property with abundant wildlife all around. Elk, deer, antelope, bobcats and coyote have roamed through here. However one of the best features are the magical night skies- some of the clearest in the nation with almost zero light pollution. Bring your binoculars and enjoy and evening on the edge of a canyon gazing at the brilliant stars and who knows maybe some flying object you can't identify.  The nights are always cool at our elevation so you may want to get that campfire going and enjoy the company of family and friends before returning to your tents.
