Dana is an amazing host, who bent over backwards to make us (two couples, each with two labradors) feel welcome.
We came with our travel trailers and really enjoyed the full book- up sites that had everything we needed, yet retained the feeling of being “away from it all” and not crowded.
Dana has restored the buildings and grounds beautifully and brought this unique place back to life. Really interesting hearing about the history of the place.
The pool was beautiful and clean and the water very refreshing on the hot days. Our dogs were even allowed to swim, which made this paradise for all of us: happy, tired labradors at the end of the day. Nothing better. We will definitely be back!

Our host Dana made the three days we stayed at the Desert Sanctuary on the maiden voyage with our new camper exceptional. He was everywhere, taking care of things and many times asking if we needed anything without being intrusive. The perfect host!
The area is beautiful and remote, which is just what we wanted. Our dogs could run around to their hearts’ content and that made the stay so much more relaxing for us. They even got to enjoy the beautiful pool. Labrador Heaven!

This place is Amazing! I can’t say enough good things about the location, the atmosphere or the host! All A++++!!! If you are looking for an authentic camping experience with all the privacy you could want, yet not so far out in the wilderness where you need to drag out your solar kit and generator, than this is the place.

Dana is the best host ever and my wife and two kids loved our trip and we all created some great memories. We stayed at Dana’s property for 4 nights. We easily got our 27’ airstream up the dirt road and into and out of our spot. Hookups were brand new and Dana was there to help us if we needed anything at all. Great neighbors too!

This place is magical!! We had planned to stay overnight only 1 night on a road trip but ended up booking consecutive nights.
Dana, the host, is the nicest guy on the planet. The amenities are just as described.
We can’t recommend this place enough! We’ll definitely be back!

We are frequent fliers at Desert Sanctuary! We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and are well taken care of by Dana- he makes sure we have enough firewood and that we are doing ok... it’s very kid and dog friendly and has such a neat and serene vibe. It’s nice to get away to and lay back! My kids loved feeding the koi fish and liked running around trails around the perimeter. Look forward to coming again soon!

This was amazing! I had no clue what to expect when booked; the site was so well kept, and haunt water right there was really great. Dana, the host, was wonderful! He even found us some extra chairs. The site is fascinating; the buildings are so cool and the shared pool area was great. We were able to make 3 meals on the grill. Got to have some great conversations with other campers in the evenings on the deck. Plus lots of desert to explore around the area. Just keep in mind there is some wind that comes off the Rincons in the evening but it’s not bad at all; refreshing when it’s warmer out. Definitely will be returning.

View from camp looking west.

Dana could not have been more welcoming. The propane grill was a wonderful surprise since there is a burning ban now. It was so quiet and relaxing as everyone felt the calm vibe of the place. We hope to return.
