The camp was clean, the bathrooms were immaculate, the staff was exceptionally kind & helpful. I felt like the sites were a *little* small, but our over all experience overrode that. Lots of things to do & explore. Make sure you have bug spray, as the outer banks mosquitos will eat you up!

I was looking to get some winter beach camping in to start the year and Cedar Island scratched that itch. The campground is easy to find and navigate. From the public parking/boat launch area, you can walk on a long stretch of beach. There are horses and other amenities, but since I was off-season, I just took advantage of the hot shower and flush toilet. Beaufort is a pleasant drive and there are some woodland hiking trails nearby.

Came to Cedar Island Ranch for Thanksgiving. It was peaceful, beautiful and relaxing! The sunsets and sunrises were spectacular!!! Walks on the private beach, priceless!! The horses, cows, and various wildlife was an added bonus. I don’t think I have ever seen that many types of birds in one place. The furbabies absolutely loved the dog park and I enjoyed watching the sunrise over the sound while I watched them play. The bathrooms were clean and kept up and heated!!
Staff was so friendly. Already planning a return trip!!!

Wooded Pull Thru FHU 50ft
We had the pleasure of booking a site with full hook up at Cedar Island Ranch. We hiked the beach with the wild horses and cows for two days. I can’t describe the waves, the birds , the warm sand on my bare feet. It was 3 days of solitude we needed. ❤️

The wild cows were so cool! The horses were beautiful and well kept. The park was perfect beach environment. Very clean. The beach is private only for guests of the ranch which was a pleasant surprise. My pull thru spot gave me a beautiful ocean view out my bedroom window 10/10 will definitely be going again! Might even snag a seasonal spot when they become available :)

Quiet, Beautiful view of the water. Loved the horseback ride. Clean bathrooms. Good fishing. Not a ton of amenities and wifi was very spotty, but that's not what we went for. We loved our trip.

I usually use Hipcamp to find camping spots but this time I chose to stay in a room. I had the best experience with Cedar Island Ranch.
Clean, bright and cat accommodating, we loved it! Great quiet getaway!

We enjoyed our time on Cedar Island at the Ranch. FHU water-view pull thru site was nice. Sitting around the campfire watching the sun come up was peaceful. Horseback riding on the beach and kayaking was fun. Staff was great.

DENIED Access DUE TO AGE
If this sight is called hipcamp sounds to me like hip should be involved.
There was no hip in not allowing our beautiful bus because it was not RVIA ( hip enough) for there snootyness. If only people who can afford a $100,000 RVIA certified vehicle are invited to your ranch then I’m sorry we tried to stay with you. We planned a family vacation for five days to include four adults and three awesome kids. We were looking forward to horseback riding and all the other great things that you talked about only to be denied because someone didn’t like the way our bus looked. Why else would we only be denied access after we sent pictures? How could they tell my Recreational Vehicle wasn’t RVIA certified from a picture? Just saying

Beautiful location for exploring the Outer Banks. Awesome beach. Enclosed dog park. Same location as ferry so it’s easy to catch it. New property manager Marci is lovely, welcoming and helpful. There is a bath house snd and outdoor shower two. My only complaint was the bathhouse was kept kind of cold for showering. Do bring bug spray and be prepare to possibly have to set up in a strong onshore wind. There are good food spots around, but require a drive, so bring what you need to have in hand. The mercantile offers snacks and coffee or tea for $2 (a bargain). Beach horseback rides on site. Truly a great place to stay.

This was a really cool camping place. It was clean and felt very safe. There was a nice bath house with hot shower. There isn't much shade even on the wooded sites so bring your own. I will definitely go back :)

We loved this camp ground. The bathrooms were cleaned 3x a day, they always smelled and looked like they had just cleaned. The staff is wonderful and cordial. The best part is the camp ground has a private beach access. There’s campsites availability right on the beach. The beach has shallow waters which is wonderful for families and small kids. This is a hidden gem.

We absolutely loved Cedar Island Ranch! The staff was very helpful and incredibly kind. The campsite was the perfect size and right on the water. We fished, kayaked, and even rode the horses. Atlantic Beach was a short drive away and we took the ferry to Ocracoke Island for a day.
While on Cedar Island, it was like having our own private beach. It was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation we have had in years!

This is a cute place to stay if you want off the beaten path, or if you are a traveler needing a place to rest while you island hop the nc coast. Rooms were clean,staff was super friendly, the horses were beautiful, boating is easy,fishing is easy, the north beach is a clean shallow "beach" for wade fishing and kiddos swimming. Summertime you don't see the wild cows or horses so if that's your goal, make sure to book in fall and spring when the waters are down. Hopefully there is a food option on the ranch again soon, a good bait and tackle spot on the ranch would have been nice also. Taking the ferry over to ocracoke be sure to make reservations to and from for the car or plan to rent a bike to get to the beach as you can't take a golf cart to the beaches there.

We had a great time camping on Cedar Island! It was packed but was quiet by 9 pm except on 4th of July and they were done with the music/noise by 10. It was perfect and beautiful! Plus the ferry to Ocracoke is right next to the camp site.

Overall, the campground was atleast clean. And walking distance to beach access. The spots are very tightly fit and there are no rules/ regulating others using RVs and Tents in the same spot, which made it tricky so nothing was ran over. Very quiet area but truly secluded from the outside world. Before booking we searched for stuff to do around the island and most said “30 minute drive” but honestly it was 45 minute drive to closest Dollar General and 1 hour to closest grocery store (Food Lion), if you want to shop it was 3 hour drive one way to the Premium Outlets, which was half way back home for us. Power did go out on 2 occasions and no communication from the campground or host so we got details from google. They do offer WIFI but I was unable to use it the entire week we were there. No cell service in the area either. Camp store has very minimal supplies needed while camping so come prepared with those “just in case” items because the store won’t have it. I can say very friendly staff just not what was detailed or expressed before booking or found on search engines . Be prepared and plan ahead if staying here. Oh, and if you are wanting waterfront- you will be placed (as the one worker said “swamp area”) nothing is truly beach front access.
