Located in the foothills of the Potomac Highlands, Buffalo Gap is a 1950s era former Mountain Kids Camp turned Retreat by a group of individuals who had a vision of creating a space where family and friends can enjoy a relaxing mountain get-away. Situated between two mountains -- Sandy Ridge and Slane's Knob -- Buffalo Gap sits in the gap between the two. Consequently, the 70 acre property is teaming with creeks and streams, along with a 1.5 acre spring fed lake, making it a peaceful and beautiful retreat from the daily stresses of life. Rent a cabin, camp, have a wedding or family reunion, enjoy our lakeview café, swim, hike, kayak, canoe, and so much more. With the nearby town of Capon Bridge just 10 minutes away and the Shenandoah Valley city of Winchester just 35 minutes, so much beauty and convenience with our riverside town and nearby bigger city for additional dining and entertainment as well as conveniences.

Creekside RV Site #29 @ Buffalo Gap
Wonderful weekend
My husband and I spent Memorial Day Weekend at Buffalo Gap. This was our first visit and we will return. Lovely property-very accommodating staff - communication excellent. The cafe was a treat with delicious healthy choices if you don’t feel like cooking on part of your camping stay. Our dog approved the site too- nice touch with the doggie park just in case he needed to get his “ wiggles out”

Creekside Site #27 @ Buffalo Gap
We had a wonderful time and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. The sauna is a must and jumping into the cool water is very refreshing. I like this site because it’s a little more tucked away than the other sites.

Buffalo Gap Island Group Campsite
The “private island” is an incredible campsite! The stream and bridges had our kids entertained all weekend. It was nice and shady and the fire pit is beautiful. The facilities could use some TLC but overall are very nice, and the owners are wonderful! The main thing I would love to see is easier bathroom access. Creating paths to the bathrooms from the campgrounds, or adding a bathroom to the campground would make us much more likely to return in the future.
