The farm was owned in the 30's by a musical family who's members were invited to play for FDR at the White House. My background is as a horse shoer and black smith and I have made Fiddler's Ridge my home since 2003. I have a forge on site and will be happy to demonstrate or give a beginner lesson. Just ask for details. Site 2 - The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge
Tribe Campout
The “Tribe” had an AMAZING time this weekend staying on John’s land! This was our 3rd campout and nothing less than perfect. The campsite is remote and peaceful with all the natural beauty that surrounds. The fire pit hosted many wonderful conversations throughout the night. We will definitely be back to enjoy the serenity that John, and his land, provides!

Site 2 - The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge
I stayed at site #2 and it was exactly what I needed to start my camping weekend! After heading down the long gravel private road, I texted John to let him know I was near the pasture with the horses. He met me in his vehicle and escorted me to site #2. There is a outhouse near Site #1 - i didn't need to use it so cant speak to it. Site #2 is a field pasture with a horse trough for water (great for the dog after our walk!) and fully fenced with some gates to go explore through the woods. It also has an open building storing fire wood, which is available for purchase by the bucket or you can forage on your own in the surrounding area/woods. You can camp anywhere in the pasture, which is mostly flat, with a tree in the middle, a picnic table, and a fire pit/ring. The other site was occupied when I arrived, but I didn't hear them once. It was amazingly quiet, peaceful and serene. Would definitely return if I'm in the area. Thanks for a great stay, John :-)

Site 1 - The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge
Peace, quiet and great for dogs!
We loved the peace and quiet! We stayed at campsite #1 which was a grassy hill about 1/4 mile from the main house (A bit off-roading is needed to get there so have a descent vehicle). The water line and showers were at the main house so the campsite itself is quite primitive. There is a dual outhouse just steps away from the site, one of the cleanest I’ve come by. Once at the campsite, you overlook a big horse enclosure which the owner had empty when we arrived as well as paths to various parts of the property. One path takes you on a nature walk, another to a hidden stream, one back to the house and another to the second campsite. From there, it’s what you make of it! My wife and I set up our tent on the top of the hill, cooked out, played with the dogs (there’s so much room to run) and stared at the stars in front of the fire. The owner was fantastic, he met us at the house and had us follow him to the site. Super nice guy that just wants you to enjoy yourself. He has a huge pile of firewood at both sites that you can use for pretty cheap. Other than that, we didn’t really see or hear from him which was totally okay with us. Once you leave the property, you are maybe 10 minutes away from the nearest winery so traveling wasn’t terrible. I must worn, the roads are narrow and windy and the locals like to drive quite fast so be careful! If you’re okay with primitive camping and want your dogs to run around without a worry, this is a great spot!

Site 2 - The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge
Beautiful and Secluded Site
This site was in a beautiful field. It was flat, leaving tons of space to set up tents and gear. There was also a covered area in case of rain, although I didn't utilize it. There was a path down to a nice creek, and other paths around the property. The area was nice and secluded, with a lot of birds singing. John was really nice, and showed me around the property when I got there. Overall, it was a great place to stay, and I would definitely like to go back next time I'm in the area.

Site 2 - The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge
Great stay
I arrived late but the host was very warm and welcoming. As a single female (with a guard hound) I felt very safe here. Site 2 is extremely convenient if you have a dog due to the fencing; it was so nice to have her off leash!. Minimal bugs too. I will definitely be back. Note that if you have Verizon you might not have signal so plan accordingly. Also google maps might take you to Briery Creek which involves crossing the stream but there is another way using main roads.
