This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Site 3 - Tent / RV site

Camped in tents at site 3 and had the best time with my family. It was a real pleasure to meet Bob and we’d love to return someday. Oh, and we saw the aurora borealis, what! 🤯

Site 5 - Ridgetop meadow

Fantastic site, tall grass

Wonderful site, the only reason for not giving a highest rating was that the site was not mowed. Grass was knee high and because it rained the whole time you couldn't walk anywhere without getting wet up to the knees. Shower at the house was nice. Very private yet very close to everything.

Site 4 - Tent / RV site

We’d come again!

Great communication with Bob, clean site, friendly dogs. Wished the zip line worked at the pond as our kids were pretty excited for it. Views were outstanding. Accommodations were great for the ladies to have a real bathroom too.

Site 5 - Ridgetop meadow

Site 5 was very spacious and private. Easy to navigate and close to Charlottesville. Was very happy with my first Hipcamp experience.

Site 3 - Tent / RV site

A lovely, peaceful evening

I really enjoyed camping for the night at this idyllic horse farm. I arrived later in the evening, so I didn’t get to see the horses until the morning, but I got really lucky, as I got to see a nighttime fog lift from the property as I packed up and prepared to move on.

Gorgeous property and wonderful views! The campsite was clean and level enough for my campervan to park without tilt.
