This new-in-formation ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to backcountry camp in beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2024, camping here provides a glimpse into a 3 year-old successional prairie, which at this phase is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie seeded with a growing variety of native flowers. Most likely a good fit for those who are self-sufficient and like to avoid busy camping areas, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~7 miles to the Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails amidst a young prairie, as if you were camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve. Water tap by main house for cleaning dishes, etc. Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~400 seedlings so far and 75 planned for 2024), establish prairie grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species. Thanks to our visitors for supporting this type of project. p.s. Bundles of dried and split firewood are available onsite, usually a mix of red cedar and oak with a suggested donation of $6/bundle.

Hickory Field
Kevin has a beautiful property and was an excellent host. He's clearly passionate about the land and provides a nice environment for campers. I'd camp at his place any time.

Wonderful Campsite!!!
Kevin was an absolutely incredible host! He was super caring and accommodating especially with our travel times. We were getting to the campsite later in the evening and he set up some helpful markers to lead us to the campsite. On top of that, his property was wonderful- super safe and private! The site was really really close to Mammoth Cave national park. Would absolutely recommend this campsite to anyone. Definitely planning to make another trip here in the future!

Hickory Field
We decided to stop off for a day to visit Mammoth Cave on our trip to Smoky Mountain NP. Could not be happier with our stay on Kevin's property! Location was perfect. It was so peaceful and quiet watching the sunset at the Hickory campsite. Fireflies filled the field after dark. Magic! Kevin was extremely helpful throughout the process. Excellent host!

Huge Camping Spot With Great Host!
We really lucked out finding this space on our trip to Mammoth Caves. We originally booked within the national park and upon arrival were disappointed by how close together the spots were. For anybody seeking a private camping spot this is a prime camp! Kevin is a great, friendly host and the land is beautiful. His friendly dogs were a nice bonus as well!

Vast, Secluded Drive-in Camp Spot
I stayed at both this spot and the Hickory Field spot and can't imagine a better place to camp while visiting Mammoth Caves and surrounding area! This spot is private in a huge field surrounded by beautiful woods. Kevin was an extremely accommodating host and gave great recommendations for the area. I would definitely book here before anywhere else when back in the area!
