Wild Camping Site 3
Chris’s land was PERFECT. It was mine and my husbands favorite camping spot, ever. (& we camp a lot). It was just so beautiful, very spread out from anyone else, felt like it was just you and the outdoors. If we were ever in the area again we would definitely come back. Clean bathrooms, great cooking area, and wonderful fire place! Thanks so much Chris!

Large Desert Safari Tent
Absolutely exceeded my expectations and so glad I stumbled upon this place! I just left and already can’t wait to come back. It’s a 30 min drive from the Sand Dunes and provides a beautiful, secluded desert style oasis close to the action. The host was so helpful and we loved getting to chat with him! He accommodated our later arrival with no hassles! Our tent bed was Soooo Comfy we didn’t want to leave! Chris made sure we had plenty of blankets to keep us warm Through the cold night. Thank you Chris!

Short and sweet everything is awesome. The space, the host, the views. Several communal areas with amenities but the camp sites are spaced so you still have your own privacy. Make sure to stay up late to stargaze!

Desert Dome Tent 2
Exceeded Expectations! 11/10 stars
Just about everything you could imagine was supplied for our one night trip, we totally overpacked. Next time I'm only packing a toothbrush, some clothes and food. My daughter, 2 dogs and myself enjoyed this place and regret not staying at least another night (next time, we are staying longer and bringing friends!). For our first Hipcamp booking, I believe Chris set the bar way too high! From the cots, pillows, bedding, heater in our tent, indoor bathroom, drinking water and cooking area, to the warm welcome tour of the campground, it could not have been better. The close proximity to the Great Sand Dunes NP and all things in the San Luis Valley is great. It was quick and easy for us to visit the dunes for sunset/sunrise photo ops or to Alamosa for a bite to eat. If you are lucky enough to spend some time around the communal campfire with the host Chris, you are in for a treat! (he was around, setting up the various campsites and getting ready for the season) The few stories he shared make me think he's "living the life" and they could make for an interesting movie. It was a pleasure to meet him. This campground easy, 100% worth it and highly recommended, no hesitation. The host was just the cherry on top.

Wild Camping Site 1
We brought our RV out to Chris' land for a night and ended up staying another. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the land a bit more. The property is stunning and it's seriously an oasis. You feel like you're really out in the wild because you can hardly see any other neighboring structures. The 360 degree views are magical and our 3 and 6 year old kiddos loved the freedom to roam and be adventurous on the land and surrounding environment. Chris is a man with many wonderful stories and a huge heart for conservation. He is generous and a great guy to hang out with. Would highly recommend using Dunes Desert Campground as your launchpoint for exploring the Great Sand Dunes National Park and the San Luis Valley. We are looking forward to coming back!
