When the opportunity presented itself in late 2018, Dan and Maggie teamed up with Chuck and Susie Velie to purchase 130 acres along the Hoh River. They all had a common goal of providing an intimate outdoor experience for those looking to disconnect themselves from the everyday life and reconnect with nature by offering an incredible outdoor experience. Chuck Velie, (son of Gary and Beth Velie) is the great-great grandson of John Huelsdonk, more commonly known as the Iron Man of the Hoh. This property has been in the family for many many generations. It is our goal to preserve the heritage of this property while drawing tourism and helping local businesses attract customers. We believe that this is an investment in our community that rewards us today and leaves an invaluable resource for future generations. Maple Creek Outfitter is dedicated to creating the best outdoor experience for their guests including comfortable rustic accommodations and an environment that is rich in beauty and bounty.

Site 6 - Hoh River Campsites
Beautiful place to park our trailer. Very quiet and lots of space in between campsites. It is dry camping however with no available water source so for more than a couple of days, you would have to go and fill up your tanks. Still, it would be worth it! It was a great place to stay.

Best rustic campsite ever
Dan & Maggie have created a truly special spot. Specific touches like comfy toilet seats on the rustic toilet and little flower arrangements next the hand sanitizer are unexpected and delightful. The generous and thoughtful placement of the campsites, such that one doesn’t have to see or hear their neighbor is unprecedented in my experience. And their beautiful little trails set to capture the best aspects of the unique property show a truly perceptive understanding of what they are doing. I haven’t ever left a review before. I’m doing this one because Dan and Maggie have exceeded expectations for their genre.

Site 7 - TENT ONLY
Our spot was peaceful and clean. The river was beautiful along with the whole property. We got to see a heard of elk. The owners were super nice. It was a wonderful time thank you for sharing your property with us for the weekend!

Magical Stay
We had a great time staying on Dan and Maggie’s land. Maggie was the sweetest host and you could tell she truly cares about the land and providing an authentic experience between nature and her guests. We stayed in Site 1 and it was huge, an amazing space for our little kiddos to run around and ride bikes. It was a great base camp for all of our Olympic National Park adventures. We also saw the local elk herd three times and heard barred owls every night. It was magical. Highly recommend.

Site 5 - Hoh River Campsites
My husband and I enjoyed this campsite. We stayed in site 6 and the fire pit is nice and hidden in the back for privacy. We came during bad weather and wished we would have come when it was warmer to enjoy the river more. Everything is really well kept and maintained and the hosts are kind. Everything was easy to navigate and we had a good time.

Site 4 - Hoh River Campsites
Great site! It is clear Dan and Maggie put a lot of effort into this property and prioritize taking care of guests. This site is close to Ruby Beach and the Hoh Rainforest which made it great to bounce between both locations. River access was a bonus! We hung out on the river for a few hours each day.
