5 acres hosted by Joseph K.
3 RV/tent sites
This is my 2nd season open to the public so feedback is very utilized. 2wd car people, you should read closely.
Hello, my name is Joe and I live here at Christmas Tree Ridge. This beautiful 5 acre canvas overlooks the Tahuya Valley to my south and is propped on the edge of a deep gullie to the East. Long ago this whole hillside farmed Christmas Trees.
Valley Ridge Lookout is a large clearing up at the top of the plot. West perch is a small spot of by itself perched on the west lot line. Side Step is a quick and dirty-park-n-go spot. Gully Vista is just being opened, its a tiny tent/ hammock site with a narrow hiking trail to get to it. Check out the map in the photos.
I'm putting a pole barn up this summer, just a FYI so there is an area on the land that you will see that is not just trees or my camper. I won't make noise
during camp hours don't worry. I use time while campers are here to work on quite things.
So, after a year, I have seen most are car camping or tent, even with the round rocky soil. And some folks have the fancy camper vans that do fine, and I've seen some old school vans and stuff. But if you are rolling in here with a Full 26' F350 size RV you are very Big for this campground, just gonna say that now. I do my best to filter and set up the campsites to show vehicle types and sizes on this app.
Pros:
-Borders state land, hunter's verify season.
-Just broke brush on a trail that connects to the Howell Lake Trail for hiking, biking, motor bike, or horseback year round. Very narrow trail, just cut last year and always fighting the grow back.
-Wood for burning, not all sites have a fire ring. Ask, I can arrange things.
-Trash free soil, keep it that way please.
-Swimming hole at Howell lake is 1 mile via that trail, less then 10min by car.
-Great views of Moon and Stars
-If I'm around, I can fire up the new well to fill your tanks.
Cons:
-1 mile long dirt road can get bumpy at times. I promise your car can make it up the hill if you go slow, spinning your tires is why the road is so bad. I do it in a smart car and 90's jap 2wd truck all the time. 5mph Speed limit. However...... time has shown Fwd, specifically fwd cars that have more weight in the rear and not much on the drive axle have shown to suck at driving up these marblely round rock roads. Mini vans loaded to the max are some of the worse. Have everyone in the car move forward can help? Or hell just go flying up the hill at 20mph ripping it up and making a dust storm and you'll make it also. Someday my neighbors and I will put some gravel down.
-While a very private place, Distance road noise from the north during traffic hours, occasional loud car or liter bike buzzing the back road, and single engine planes, sometimes even aerobatic, practicing above are some noises you may hear besides nature.
-Gully creates steep(100% Grade or more) drop near edge of some camp sites. Please keep a safe distance. Be aware when walking around the east edge at night or you may find yourself 100ft lower in the bush or trees.
