Indigo Eagle Sanctuary is an incredible place to experience the abundance of nature in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Sanctuary features two main areas: Mountain Tops, or Creekside sites. Immerse yourself in beauty and adventure, with waterfalls, a rushing creek, fishing, and camping. Our creek properties include the Creekside Cabin, and Waterfall Haven (multiple camping site options, with their own areas by the creek). Guests have room to explore the mossy wonderland along Hornbuckle Creek, take a dip in a swimming hole, take an adventure and follow a rough trail (at your own risk) to another waterfall, accessed across the creek, or just kick back and relax. (Note to guests: Trail has not been maintained since last year. Go at your own risk.) Our mountaintop options include Eagle’s Nest and Songbird Campsites. These two sites provide breathtaking, long-range mountain views and epic sunsets. They are great for quick get-aways, with ease of access to main roads/highways. Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation (museum, shops, dining) and Maggie Valley, a quaint mountain town with more shops, food, and entertainment. Nearest grocery stores are Ingles in Waynesville, or Food Lion in Cherokee. The popular Asheville is about a 50minute drive from our Sanctuary. Plenty to explore here, while being able to unplug and unwind.

Waterfall Haven Campsite 12
This ended up being the perfect site for our group of 7. The surroundings were beautiful with a rushing stream, huge waterfall and some trails to explore. We'd definitely camp here again! Certainly would advise to heed the recommendation of AWD/4WD, it's a few miles or so on curvy gravel back roads and about a mile of some pretty rough terrain. Steep in some areas as well. All very worth it - we'll be back!

Waterfall Haven Camping (2-11)
Loved this spot! This is our third time camping at Indigo Eagle and every time has been great! Love being surround by the peaceful sound of running water! Beautiful waterfall on the land and a great place to unplug and unwind with friends! We will back again for sure!

Don't expect help from the owner
The idea was wonderful, but the execution not so much. The sites were not clearly labeled - a map of the area would be very helpful. On top of that, the tent platform by the creek (site 6) that we were on had broken steps on both sides, making it hard to get up and down. The worst part, though, was the fact that another group camping in the site next to us had their music up loud all day and night. We even asked them to turn it down, to no avail. Even with the river noise, you could still hear it. I reached out to the property owner with no response. Still no response about it several days later. I understand that there are some things that maybe are beyond your control, but common customer service says you at least respond to your guests about their concerns.

Waterfall Haven Camping (2-11)
We had a nice time and our site was right by the water which was great. Unfortunately the sites were much smaller and much closer together than expected. Sites 8-11 were no where to be found and we could not find the hike that they talk about. All of the pictures in the website are beautiful but this listing needs to be updated because it looks very different now.

Eagles Nest Top Mountain View #2
Perfect Primitive Campsite
What an incredible weekend at Eagle's Nest! The view is amazing, best campsite view we have ever had! Very convenient location for Cherokee & Maggie Valley. We had great service, beware of the wind up there! This spot is secluded, but feels very safe, and great for dogs. Use Google Maps with the address (and directions) that are provided by the host, we had no trouble finding it, but the roads are definitely steep. Had no trouble getting up there with my 2WD 4Runner. We recommend booking site 2 at this property. There is no running water bathroom, it is an outhouse. We had the absolute best time, and will definitely be back. The pictures truly don't do it justice, if you're looking for a spectacular primitive campsite with a view, look no further! Thank you for sharing this spot with us, perfect place to get engaged!
