This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. This is the only site on the property deep in our own property with one way in and out, so you will not be bothered by anyone or see anyone, unless it's me or my father. FWD is recommended if conditions are wet, otherwise 2WD is fine. There is no mud, but the hills and grass can cause traction issues with street tires. (I've had several vans stay without issues, just be aware the road is not paved). Box with several outdoor reading material and I.D. pamphlets present at site. Please ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer any concerns.

Bug Tussle Creek Bend
Beautiful and peaceful spot!
We loved this little piece of paradise. It’s tucked away and private which made it so nice to let our kids and dogs play. The creek was beautiful and we spent a lot of our time exploring the area and examining all of the little critters that called the creek home. The campsite was comfortable and shaded and the sound of the creek flowing was a lullaby as we slept. I would definitely recommend and I hope we get to visit again soon!

Hidden Gem of a Campsite
This site was such a hidden gem! You drove a gravel road pretty far back into their property to a really well laid out little campsite by the water. Would recommend 4wd/awd and come while still light out as it may be hard to navigate at dark. They had a cable already up for my pup and campfire circle set up. We had 5 tents set up and had plenty of room! The pups loved the shallow water and were living their best life. It was right at 50 minutes from Birmingham so it was a super easy distance for our group. Would highly recommend!!

Bug Tussle Creek Bend
The campsite was perfect. We enjoyed walking in the creek to cool off. The privacy was great. I will say the ticks were plentiful. Bug tussle creek campsite was amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting Matthew when he came to save us ( got stuck in the slick clay) not once but twice. Prior to our getaway, he was very quick to respond and easy to communicate with. But actually meeting him is why I love going to Alabama. He’s a true southern gentleman. Most likely the politest man one can meet. Thank you Matthew for allowing us to enjoy a little piece of heaven. Thank you for saving us. We look forward to enjoying your property again.
