Hawaiian Rainforest Glamping is located in Fern Forest, a rural neighborhood, on three verdant acres of ōhiʻa lehua trees, tree ferns, banana plants, and fruit trees at 2100 feet. The yurt has its own bathroom with a flushing toilet and vanity sink. There is a large communal kitchen (a 16' x 16' kitchen cabin) that you can use free of charge, and an outdoor shower with hot water. In the summer, the greenhouse in the fenced paddock is full of vegetables. Free-ranging ducks and chickens supply eggs. There is an outdoor lounge area complete with a six-person picnic table, four hammocks, a fire pit, and torches. Please note that the owner lives on the premises in their own cabin, 20 feet away from the yurt. The homestead is run by 6,000 watt solar-power and a rain-catchment system with a 4,500 gallon water tank. This is a peaceful place to relax and recuperate from the din of city life. There are no street lights, just the stars and moon after sunset. On a clear night, the sky is full of stars. It rains often in this area and the sound is soothing to fall asleep to. Check out our other two sites on this listing—a camping cabin (Rainforest Glamping Cabin) and a tent area (Rainforest Tent) for tent campers. Several places of interest are within a 1.5 hour drive. Volcano National Park is only 15 minutes away by car; Punaluʻu black sand beach is 30 minutes; Ka Lae (South Point) is about 1.5 hours; and Hoʻokena Bay is about two hours. Hawaiian Rainforest Glamping is located in Fern Forest, a rural neighborhood, on three verdant acres of ōhiʻa lehua trees, tree ferns, banana plants, and fruit trees at 2100 feet. The yurt has its own bathroom with a flushing toilet and vanity sink. There is a large communal kitchen (a 16' x 16' kitchen cabin) that you can use free of charge, and an outdoor shower with hot water. In the summer, the greenhouse in the fenced paddock is full of vegetables. Free-ranging ducks and chickens supply eggs. There is an outdoor lounge area complete with a six-person picnic table, four hammocks, a fire pit, and torches. Please note that the owner lives on the premises in their own cabin, 20 feet away from the yurt. The homestead is run by 6,000 watt solar-power and a rain-catchment system with a 4,500 gallon water tank. This is a peaceful place to relax and recuperate from the din of city life. There are no street lights, just the stars and moon after sunset. On a clear night, the sky is full of stars. It rains often in this area and the sound is soothing to fall asleep to. Check out our other two sites on this listing—a camping cabin (Rainforest Glamping Cabin) and a tent area (Rainforest Tent) for tent campers. Several places of interest are within a 1.5 hour drive. Honua La'a "Sacred Land"

Enjoy the country life in Kau on the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, just go slow the road is gravel and bumpy. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. Shared bathroom (see photos). Hipcamp kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest (bring ice), No fridge. No oven. Small BBQ grill. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette and a gallon of water to get you started. DRIP COFFEE -Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious! This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

THE OKINA AT PARADISE UNPLUGGED

THE "OKINA", at Paradise Unplugged, is a clean and private cabin that allows you to experience THE REAL HAWAII. This will give you an opportunity to stay within Hawaii's Largest Collection of Rainforest Tikis. Upon your arrival, you will experience our amazing Tiki collection along with our tropical plant nursery which includes over 300 rare Hapuu Ferns. You will see the many ways we live off grid in the Hawaiian jungle. ALOHA! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our 7 life sized tiki statues that represent the game of chess. These tiki statues sit along a fence that was created using 100% recycled pallets. Once you enter the outdoor foyer, you will once again be greeted by 4 more life sized tiki statues. Upon entering the property, you will walk through our natural lava rock path called "The Horse Shoe". To the right you will see our rare collection of Hapuu Ferns along with other tropical plants from our nursery. To the left will be another 4 tiki statues from our collection ranging in sizes from 6 to 20 feet. All of our tiki statues are original pieces of artwork that are 100% hand carved. Along "The Horse Shoe" path you will also see several lava rock sculptures along with a "Rasta" sculpture that is insitu and still in the process of being created. After about a 100 foot walk, you will arrive at "The Okina" guesthouse. The Okina is a unique structure built from 100% recycled pallets! The hallways and sleeping area is about 100 sqft and features several pieces of original mixed media artwork and a futon style bed. We offer open spaced hallways along with a private lanai for you relax in and enjoy the tropical scenery. The hallway with black pillars and stringed bamboo will lead you to a unique indoor/outdoor jungle bathroom that is lined with totem poles that are 100% hand carved. There is an off grid igloo water cooler containing unheated non potable water. The composting toilet is designed to be used as a future fertilizer producer for our tropical gardens. "The Okina" is a prime example of off-grid jungle living. Electricity is provided by mini "solar bricks" that will charge cell phones or tablets. Lights are battery operated. Our non-potable lava rock filtered water is naturally caught and is provided daily from our "Water House". We strive to keep The Okina as clean as possible, so we do not offer a kitchen and we do not allow cooking. Please remember the paths are natural uneven lava rock so guests must be able to walk on an even lava rock path. Guests have free range to enjoy the outdoor tiki collection and tropical garden full of Hapuu Ferns in "the Horse Shoe". Please take as many photos as you like, but remember the tiki statues are made from heavy Ohia wood. So we kindly ask our guests to look but please do not touch the original tiki statues. Kailua-Kona Coast

=The Big Island’s Gold Coast stretches along the west shore, fringed with sandy beaches and colorful coral reefs. Seaside campers will find plenty of ways to get on the water, whether swimming and snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park, paddling around Kealakekua Bay in a kayak, or setting sail on a whale or dolphin-watching cruise. Back on land, take a tour of a Kona coffee plantation and pay a visit to the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park.

Kohala
