Lake, rivers, and birds!
We had a great time camping at Jill's place. Her location on a lake and also next to a river is unique and beautiful. The sounds of the river and birds were lovely to wake up to. There were SO many different bird species (swans, owls, hummingbirds, orioles, just to name a few). Jill generously allowed us to use her side-by-side to explore the trails that are located right next to her property and that are part of the Bigfork and Balsam (B&B) Connection. We also kayaked around the lake (only one other home!), paddled up the river across the lake and floated back down.
There are many possible sites for tents on this property. With our small camper, we chose to stay on the driveway near the river. This spot is close to the house and next to the garage, but we angled ourselves toward the lake and river and had a lovely view of nature. We needed long extension cords for power and Jill hooked us up--she not only had extra cords, but helped us set up in the dark and pouring rain to be sure we had everything we needed. 30 amp is available, but on the side of the driveway closer to the house. All together, this is a cool location with a very helpful host!

Generous Hosts and Gorgeous Spot!
Jill was a very accommodating host and we felt right at home! She lent us the use of their side by side so we went out foraging for mushrooms on the ATV trail. I was nervous as I'm not a big fan of loud vehicles and speed so close, but this trail has THE most courteous riders. We had a fire, fell asleep to the sounds of the river, and kayaked upstream a ways and had the most relaxing time.
We watched the birds on the feeders - Rose-breasted grosbeaks, oriels, woodpeckers (downy and hairy) and there are owls hooting at night. And don't EVEN get me started on the dark skies for stargazing - stunning.
There is a pair of nesting Trumpeter Swans on the lake as well - and if you are up late enough you may hear them trumpeting and beating their wings on the water! Such amazing animals - hard to believe they were so endangered 30+ years ago!
We had an R-Pod and my Highlander and getting in was very easy. Be sure you have all you need as the nearest store is 15-20 min away - which is part of the reason that Jill's place is SO special!
We WILL be back!

Just what we were looking for in a ⛺️ camping area

Good Base Camp - Potential for More
Jill is a wonderful host and very generous. Know that the camping area is close to the house and so privacy is limited. Limited also are level places to park and sit. The 30A power is nice along with water. Depending on where you park though the spigot can be farther than your drinking hose can reach. A provided long drinking water hose would be nice to avoid the taste from a standard hose. Access to sewer is there but not easy to use if you half a low profile trailer. We used the Lucky 7 truck stop nearby on our way south. The chickens and fresh eggs are a bonus, but the rooster could challenge light sleepers. The lake is steps away from the property and is quiet with only two properties on it and no public access. The provided canoe was great and was not a problem launching from the shore, but the dock needs repairs as many of the boards felt soft. Jill provided us a screen room tent that we setup with a view of the lake that was shaded most of the day and was a really nice hangout space. An extensive ATV trail and trailhead is close by but we didn’t hear too much noise from that. Jill generously offered use of their side-by-side. Overall I’d say with some refinement this has great potential for a destination site and if you’re flexible it makes a good home base for exploring the area.
