Welcome to my property that sits below the Goldendale Observatory. In fact, there are hiking trails right behind (to the east) the property that will take you right up to the State Park. From April to September, the Observatory is open Thursday-Sunday from 3pm-5pm for the Solar Show and from 9pm-Midnight for the Evening Show. More information is on their website or through Washington State Parks website. My dream at 8 years of age was to have my horse in my own backyard. This dream finally came true when I moved out to Central Washington in 2017. Over the years I have had bunnies, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, Scottish Highlands and, of course, my horse Tigger. Due to major life changes, Tigger and the Highlands are the only animals (other than dogs & cats) on the property. By the end of the summer, it will only be my horse. Situated on the outskirts of town and on the West side of Observatory Hill, Goldendale has the ONLY public observatory in the Pacific Northwest. It was built in 1973 and received a major renovation in 2019/2020. Both the town and Klickitat county have light ordinances aimed at protecting the dark sky that have been in place since the early 1980s. Seeing all of the stars, and many times planets, are just breathtaking. If it's a full moon night or even nearly full moon, it lights up the sky. I love my little oasis, and I love to share it with others. As a friendly reminder, if you bring your vehicle onto our property it could be scratched from hooves or horns. The animals are curious and will want to checkout the new things in their pasture. This Spring/Summer season (2024) my youngest sister, Hannah, is spending the summer with her little ones (6yo & 4yo), so she will be your main contact. The Cabin sits in Rocky Point Park (this is a clue, as it's rugged and rocky terrain). The front porch looks out to the east with views of the pasture, trees, wildlife, livestock and Observatory Hill.  Provided is a newly installed (summer'23), collapsible table made from reclaimed barnwood, chairs along with folding, wooden, bench/bed (single that folds out to a queen), the bunk can sleep one adult or two children. There are outdoor furniture cushions on the bench/bed, but you may want to bring an additional mattress for added comfort. This is a roughed-in cabin which, for the summer, will be a nice place to not have to pitch a tent! You will notice the blue fabric-like walls inside, this is the vapor barrier.  The AWD/4WD is recommended during the winter months for access to the cabin, it is not necessary for any of the other seasons. As a reminder, this cabin is located in our pasture. The farm animals are around and you will hear them during the day and sometimes at night. There is also wildlife including coyotes, foxes, skunks, wild turkey, deer, quail and many, many birds for very active bird watching. I purchased this cabin from Jamaica Cottage Sheds in Vermont as a three-season kit and put it together with the help of my dad. For the colder months, I hope to have it insulated, with paneling, reclaimed tongue and groove floors, and a mini-woodstove installed.

Oak Grove
Very convenient and economical for our day, then late night visit to the Observatory - shaded, picnic bench, clean portapotty. Easy!

Rocky Point Park Cabin
Stayed here for the close proximity to the observatory. We were just passing through so needed an easy place to stay for the night. I liked the rustic feel and was glad I didn't have to pitch a tent for the night for me and my boys. The cabin was clean. While the cushions on the couch were good to sleep on, I would recommend a pad if you needed to sleep up in the loft. USB power provided so bring extra power if needed.

Sarah and her family were so welcoming and accommodating on my recent stay during a bikepacking trip. I would highly recommend their camp space.

We loved camping in the cabin and a tent on Sarah’s charming and beautiful farm! The place has big open fields as well as lots of beautiful oak and pine trees. The cows, goats, chickens, and dog and cat were friendly and a lot of fun. Our children loved playing with them. Sarah was super helpful and friendly, and thoughtfully made sure everything was great for our stay. The very dark night sky in the big open fields gave us excellent stargazing views. Highly recommended. We hope to return before too long.

Oak Grove
Camping on Sarah's property was wonderful. It was easy to find and I felt comfortable letting my kids explore. They loved catching lizards and grasshoppers and seeing snakes, frogs, turkeys and of course the cows and goats!! It was a quick trip down to Marysville to enjoy the river on a hot afternoon. The rest of the time we enjoyed hanging out in the shade of the Oak Grove. There was one goat that was a little less (or maybe more?) friendly than the others and seemed to really enjoy visiting our campsite. S/he even managed to get inside a tent for a minute! This definitely added to the experience for our family but is something to be aware of if you are less comfortable with animals. Sarah was very helpful and communicative and overall we had a great experience and really enjoyed being able to relax without all of the people at other campsites. We were also able to see some of the Perseids meteors!!

Rocky Point Park Cabin
Great place, and so nice to settle in and not have to set up a tent. Right below the observatory which is an added bonus. Plus there are cattle, goats, and dogs around which makes it even better. Will stay again!
