We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Site 2 - Rusty's Retreat

Rusty's Retreat

We had a wonderful time at Rusty's Retreat, Jay out host is just a great guy, he gave us a tour of the old farm, the history was great! His eggs are fresh and delicious, he is generous with his firewood as we always had enough for the day and night if you conserve. The campsites are all beautiful some are smaller than others, we like all the sites on the water. They are secluded and right on the water. 3 is the biggest site, they are close enough for groups yet far enough away for some privacy. We met Rusty and the mini horses, Rusty came up and let us pet him, such a sweetie. Jay, thank you for everything you are a top tier host and we will definitely be back soon.

Site 4 - Rusty's Retreat

Last minute reservation

Jay was super accommodating and friendly. We booked a last minute trip and he responded immediately with answers to our questions. The site was set up beautifully, he introduced us to his animals. Great stay!

We enjoyed our stay! It was easy to find and we enjoyed seeing the farm animals. Jay was very helpful and had no problem accommodating our late arrival.
