Coastal Getaway
Our trip to the Octagon was truly the perfect weekend escape. Point Arena was such a cute town, complete with an old cinema and market--Paul was very responsive and have us great recommendations for cafes, beaches, and hikes in the area.
The Octagon itself was a highlight, it had that fresh wood smell that added to the overall calming and serene atmosphere. You really could enjoy nature and stay tucked in bed if you wanted to. The bed was really comfortable, which was a pleasant surprise being away from home.
The kitchen was quite functional, equipped with everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed using the old-school plug-in cooler; it was perfect for chilling our beers and groceries. It also had an induction stove and beautiful pottery--little touches that made our stay feel charming and convenient.
Things to note: the hot water took awhile to heat up but it got there! We brought a couple camping chairs to hang inside the Octagon and were glad we did. All the outlets and the wifi worked great!
I would definitely recommend this place to friends looking for a peaceful getaway with all the comforts of home.

Paul’s place was truly amazing. Had just the right amenities to feel like you were one with nature. The Octagon itself is beautifully built and very spacious! Can’t wait recommend to friends.

wow, what a gorgeous space to spend a couple nights! we had everything we needed, the bed was comfy, the blankets were cozy and the kitchenette was perfect. turn on some music, laze around read and do yoga, the views from the octagon will keep you inspired. paul also is excellent at communication. thanks for the stay!

Locus Solus
Beautiful spot on top of a ridge. No neighbors you can see, just ranges of forested hills to the East. No hiking trails but a really sweet spot to spend the night! Paul was very welcoming

Octagon
The octagon is a stunning piece of architecture and the setting is breathtaking. The views out of the large windows and doors are like paintings actually. The setting is perfect for morning yoga and Point Arena in general is the perfect place to enjoy your weekend dose of vitamin sea. I particularly liked the stand alone kitchen bath house building and the attached sitting garden. The shower has great hot water pressure!

Octagon
This was our first time visiting Mendocino, and we can't say enough wonderful things about our experience at the Octagon. The Octagon is architecturally stunning and blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings of the property. It was such a comfortable stay with all necessities covered. Remote feeling while also being a 5 minute drive from the charming town of Point Arena and coastal scenery. Would definitely stay here again!
