Hazel (walk-in site)
Campsite was marshy
This was a tough review to write. On a positive note the campground was very nice with a shared facility for getting water, firewood, and friendly staff. Trails were well marked with lots of information and great privacy.
The problem was that the campsite itself was extremely marshy. There was an informational placard about how the site had a lot of clay that retained water and if you look in the photos you'll see that the tent pads are actually raised up to keep them dry. This had the knock on effect of there being a ton of ticks. This might be a good site during drier parts of the season but it was really unpleasant in May. Compared to the rest of the campground the site was buggy and wet.
If we were going to stay here again we'd stay at the campsite nearer the water or one of the cabins.

Balsam (Hike-In Site)
AMAZING Spot
Amnicon Adventures and retreats was a amazing place. I camped at Balsam campsite it I really loved it. The site is spacious, a short walk down to the beach, which was the highlight for us. My dog enjoyed it so much, and it was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The place also had a nice hike! Even tho was very muddy and raining one of days the place and the ticks were everywhere as well, but we were expecting that already, it was still an incredible weekend! The sunset view from the beach is stunning! My dog and I loved it and would definitely be coming back! Ah, and when we went on a morning walk along the beach, there were some fresh beach paw print and I thought pretty cool and just add more stars to the adventure!
