Our farm sits about 5 miles off Highway 30 to the north. We can direct you to hiking and mountain biking trails in the area (Beaver Falls trailhead is 5 miles from our farm). There is a motor boat launch in the town of Clatskanie, with access to Columbia River. There is also a launch in the city park for kayaking. The Zen Monastery is just 5 miles away. Long Beach, WA is across the Columbia River via the Astoria Bridge. Lounging about the homestead works too.

Jones beach/ Columbia river is only about a 10 minute drive, fishing and popular wind surfing spot. This property is a work in progress. We are still cleaning up from prior owners. We also have our sawmill operating on the property so you might see messes , junk, trash, ext… And you might hear working noises machine is running, etc. we try to be courteous about it but we ask that you understand that we do have to work.

Puget Island's Robert W. Little Preserve is home to a population of endangered Columbian white-tailed deer.You can walk the beach, kayak the Columbia River, or ride bikes on miles of flat Puget Island roads. There's also hiking, swimming in the Columbia on our beach, fishing, wild life viewing that entails many bird species (hawks, eagles, white tail deer). Long Beach on the Pacific ocean is 1 hour away. We have open fields as well as some areas with timber. We see lots of wildlife, elk and deer mostly but also bald eagles, falcons, hearing and others. Long Beach is just a 10 minute drive where visitors can check out the beach, fly kites, enjoy many eateries and shop the Friday Market and local shops! Fun towns also nearby are Astoria, OR, just a 15 minute drive south and Oysterville and Ocean Park are a quick 25 minute drive North! The Rodeo Grounds are located on Sandridge Road in Long Beach. The 2024 Long Beach Rodeo is July 27th and 28th, 2024. Limited horse stalls are available to rent during this time. Slow Boat Farm - Island Camping

Slow Boat Farm started as a 10-cow dairy in the 1930s. The modified farmhouse still stands and the base of the silo is now a fire ring. The Lower Columbia Kayak Roundup (LoCo) was hosted from 2007 through 2011. There have only been four owners of the property. Learn more about this land: Wide open spaces, kayak launch, and small-scale farming form a unique culture at Slow Boat Farm. Camp on Puget Island, in a peaceful, pastoral setting with views of the hills and cliffs on both sides of the river. Fire ring is available year round regardless of fire bans. A large grassy field offers ample space, and a private kayak launch is a short walk through a cottonwood forest. You will enjoy a private camp spot with shade or open space, where we can accommodate multiple vehicles. Slow Boat Farm is a large meadow, five acres of grass and wide open spaces to view the gorge cliffs. Camping is available May through September 30.

About

Live the expedition experience at Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. It stands where the Corps of Discovery spent the winter of 1805-1806. Today, you can explore the fort and grounds and imagine how these legendary explorers lived.

Your first stop? The replica of Fort Clatsop. The NPS constructed the fort based on drawings in Clark's original journals. Check out a bedroom and explore the parade grounds. If you come early, you can watch the raising of the 15-star flag.

The park excels at historic demonstrations. Watch rangers shoot a black powder musket, make candles, or tan a hide. If you're lucky, catch rangers boiling seawater down to salt—just as the expedition did. Things quiet down in the winter, but you can download an audio tour.

History buffs shouldn't miss the Netul Landing, where Lewis and Clark landed their canoes. Today, you can follow their route in a kayak or canoe. In the summer, rangers lead fantastic guided paddles.
