Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

58 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents156 acres · Santa Fe, NM
This is a non-smoking, no candle facility. The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. Now we welcome adults, and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge. There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please). NOTE: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.

River Sanctuary by Ojo Hot Springs

4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents3 acres · La Madera, NM
Learn more about this land: Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people, no shops)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives. Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a 16ft Yurt Canvas set up with furnishings (desk, couch, wash stand) and a wooden Queen Bed with down bedding. This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft.  I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. Very yummy!  The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars.  Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.  *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

The Rusty Rest

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Silver City, NM
The Rusty Rest This property is in the final stages of finishing and furnishing. Reservations will begin in mid May, 2024. Please read the entire listing before booking. This is a vintage trailer best suitable for one guest. Looking for a unique, comfy stay away from home in Silver City? You’ve found it! Go back in time in this rare 28-foot M-Systems coach, located in the elm forest near WNMU; a short walk to downtown (galleries, shops, restaurants, food coop) Farmers Market, Gough Park, and grocery store. Explore Silver City from this intimate 200 sq. ft. space that will provide a respite from your day of adventures and activities in the area. Owner is an artist and works and lives adjacent property called the Rusty Nest! With many original features, updated plumbing and electrical. Galley kitchen with original sink and refrigerator; kettle, hot plate, microwave, toaster, French press or pour over coffee maker; dining table with bench seating. Dishes, utensils, ice, coffee and tea; sheets and towels. There is a very comfortable new twin bed, best for single person due to compact layout and bed space, but might work for two people if you really like each other! Built in 1949 (a great year!), this vintage aluminum travel trailer has been lovingly restored by artists-owners to 90% of its historic beauty, including original birch wood walls. We re-used original materials, scavenged and recycled others. We have completely restored the interior of this M-systems camper with vintage cabinets, hardware, finishes, refrigerator, sink and shower, and lighting. The exterior is a work in progress, does not affect the comfort of the interior. Guest access You will be the only guests during your stay, and you have a private driveway, unpaved, and fully fenced yard. Hosts are adjacent to the property, available if needed by text. Step out the door and enjoy a large yard with raised bed gardens, fruit trees and plenty of shade. Other things to note: Silver City boasts four mild seasons! If the forecast is for cold weather, consider bringing extra clothing. Heat is provided by a space heater, and plenty of blankets. If it’s warm on a summer day, it will cool off fairly quickly under the shady elms, with ceiling vents and windows open, and fan is available. There is no ac or central heat. Full disclosure: this is essentially a 75 year old tiny house with quirks and charming details. Whenever possible, the interior has been opened up to add space and flow for modern living. Keep in mind: remember this is ‘glamping’ and doesn’t have all the comforts of a house. This is an RV, as such it’s not sealed like a house and sometimes some dust or drafts may make it inside. We encourage guests to remove their shoes on entering, to preserve the new floor; an original built in shoe rack is available to use. If you’re an adventurous soul you’ll be a perfect fit! Staying in an 75 year old travel trailer is a unique experience; we like to think this is part of the charm! There are three steps to front door, no railing, uneven unpaved yard and driveway. No smoking or pets. There is no TV; we are working on internet service. This is a great place to spend a weekend in the tranquility of the mountains, under the New Mexico stars. We are all about respecting the space and our neighbors by keeping the noise down and limiting access only to those on the reservation. You'll find this makes for a wonderful evening for all! Reserve now for the Blues Festival (May 24, 25), Gila Biking, Clay Festival, Printmaking Festival! Close to the CDT and Gila Wilderness. There is so much to do in Silver City! Typical annual event schedule: February – Chocolate Fantasia, Territorial Charter Day and Ball April – SCAA Spring Art Market, Southwest Women’s Fiber; Art Collective Tapestry of Talent Fashion Show, Continental Divide Trail days, Tour of the Gila International Bike Race May – Silver City Blues Festival June – Gila Wilderness Centennial, Fiesta Latina, Wild West Pro Rodeo July – Clay Festival, Mimbres Hummingbird Festival September – SCAA Studio Tour, Rolling Stones Gem Show; Mineral Show, Carnitas Musica Y Mas, Gila River Festival, Grant County Fair, Silver City Pride Festival October – SCAA Weekend at the Galleries, Southwest Print Fiesta, Red Paint Pow Wow, November – Day of the Dead Parade, SCAA Independent Artist Show, SCAA Holiday Art Market, MainStreet Lighted Christmas Parade For more information and a comprehensive event calendar visitsilvercity.org.

Glamping in New Mexico guide

Overview

In the heart of the Southwestern United States, New Mexico boasts beautiful landscapes, Mission-style architecture, UNESCO-listed pueblos, and more than its fair share of hot springs. While many people associate New Mexico with its largest city—Albuquerque—or its popular tourist communities of Santa Fe and Taos, much of the state is undeveloped, with large expanses of private land along with five national forests and 30 state parks. Although New Mexico winters can get cold, the weather in much of the state is dry, making year-round glamping an enticing possibility. Here you’ll find a ton of options, from yurts at Hyde Memorial State Park near Santa Fe to privately run glamping tents, treehouses, and even geodomes, both in the Santa Fe and Albuquerque area and further out in the desert and forest. Glampers in New Mexico can expect glamping amenities such as bedding, linens, hot tubs, and bathrooms, along with unique New Mexican details.

Glamping in New Mexico: What is glamping?

In New Mexico, glamping is a type of outdoor stay combining camping's nature setting with the luxury and convenience of comforts like beds, warm showers, or electricity. When glamping in New Mexico, there's no need to bring your own tent—instead, glampers may stay the night in a cabin, a vintage Airstream, a canvas bell tent, a yurt, or even a treehouse.
