Camp among the cacti at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. From your RV or tent camping site, hike and bike 40 miles of trails. Near Mesa, Usery Mountain Regional Park has 73 sites and a dump station. Nearby, fly model airplanes and ride horses in the hills. For cooler temperatures, RVers and tent campers can head into the Tonto National Forest. Tortilla Campground is popular with rock climbers, boaters, and anglers. From Burnt Corral, you can fish and swim in Apache Lake. Most Forest Service campgrounds have picnic tables and fire rings. About 35 miles from town, find year-round camping at Lost Dutchman State Park. Here, tent and RV camping sites sit next to massive red-rock cliffs. In the spring, you can hike or bike past fields of desert wildflowers.
