Our beautiful handmade yurt is set amongst an ancient orchard on an idyllic smallholding, nestled between the Kent Downs AONB and Kent's spectacular coastline. The smallholding itself is a slice of rural Kent with free-range chickens just a stone’s throw away, you’ll soon be making some fairly unique friends. We have such a great location, Canterbury is just 10 minutes drive away and the trendy coastal town of Whitstable can be reached within 20 minutes. Outside you have your own fenced off space with a gas bbq, sheltered outdoor eating area, camp fire, as well as a composting toilet, hot shower and washing up facilities adjacent to Berty, which are exclusively for your use. Berty is tucked away at the far end of the smallholding on the edge of a 20 acre accessible wood, with sweeping views of the neighbouring fields. The small holding is home to free range chickens and other animals. Eggs are complimentary and we're more than happy to arrange for you to collect them yourself if you're in a 'hunter/gatherer' sort of mood as well as a loaf of bread, milk, butter and apple juice. Our rural location is truly fantastic! You'll instantly feel the stresses and strains of everyday life disappear as you soak up the delightful Kent countryside and adjacent ancient woodland. The picturesque Stour valley is just down the road, Canterbury and it's cathedral are only 10 mins away and Kent's extensive coastline can be reached in less than 20 mins. Some delightful pubs and restaurants can be found in Canterbury, and you are spoilt for choice when it comes to top quality country pubs in the local area. Cooking can be done on top of the wood burner inside the yurt or on the bbq with side burner ring in the bbq shelter. The grassed area outside of your private space operates as a very basic campsite and welcomes campers throughout the year. Numbers are kept to a minimum in order to maintain the peace and tranquility of the area. The A2 is just under half a mile from the property so a small amount of road noise may be heard if the wind is blowing from that direction.Berty the yurty (as our 2yr old son calls it), is 5 metres in diameter and comfortably sleeps 2 adults and an infant. Inside Berty you'll find a super comfy double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a cracking little wood burning stove, a couple of UK made beanbag chairs and a mini-fridge to keep those all important beverages ice cold. We'll make sure there are some essential food items (bread, eggs, milk, butter) waiting for you when you arrive, as well as a couple of chilled beers in the fridge. Outside you have your own fenced off space with a gas bbq, sheltered outdoor eating area and a camp fire, as well as a composting toilet, hot shower and washing up facilities adjacent to Berty, which are exclusively for your use. An allocated parking spot, right next to Berty, makes parking a breeze.Berty is tucked away at the far end of the smallholding on the edge of a 20 acre accessible wood, with sweeping views of the neighbouring fields. The small holding is home to free range chickens, geese and pigs who all live a happy life in amongst the old orchard trees. Eggs are complimentary and we're more than happy to arrange for you to collect them yourself if you're in a 'hunter/gatherer' sort of mood!

Excellent.

A lovely stay in the cosy Yurt. The hosts were very accommodating and a pleasure to speak to. In the height of winter we were toasty inside with the log burner and managed to cook food on it without any problem. Comfortable bed, it has everything you need. Highly recommended.

We had the most magical night away on the farm. The yurt is perfect - spacious but cosy, well equipped with thoughtful details. It felt remote despite being at the end of a chicken farm, with amazing views over the forest and great walks from the back of the yurt. We went in November and stayed toasty by the fire. It felt like a real adventure and we are already planning a return trip. Our hosts were flexible, welcoming and responsive. Thank you!

Brilliant Berty!

George (the new owner) was a welcoming host and very knowledgeable. Berty is well kitted out and we were so cosy all night. Free range eggs and fresh bread for breakfast. A perfect overnight stay!

Bliss

Beautiful accommodation, as cosy as can be at night thanks to the wood burning stove ( and duvet). Attached to the farm is a wonderful piece of Woodland with rare wild mushrooms and a sense of untouched wilderness. The hosts are very helpful and friendly and you do feel away from it all ( ie you cannot hear traffic noisee on A2, just a contented silence ). I felt it was excellent value for money. Highly recommend.

Cosy fun!

We had the best weekend in the yurt. It was super cosy and felt autumnal perfect for our October getaway. It gets super toasty with the stove & the yurt has all the items you need. You can tell it’s really thought out by Jon the owner. No wifi but my signal was good to hotspot from. The area also feels really private, we were undisturbed. Cute towns and pubs are a short drive away alongside a really nice farmers type market area.

Quiet corner

We had a wonderful time in this quiet corner, perfect for both of us and also for our dog. The facilities are excellent, the surroundings beautiful. We walked into Canterbury on the North Downs path and then back along the Rover Stour, a long hike for us, but a good option.
