17 acres, with 2 cleared, only 3 kms as the crow flies, from the coast. You can hear the surf in the evening. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports. The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge. The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors. PLEASE CHECK the description for further details about what is provided and to indicate if you are bringing your pet(s).Cosy and eclectic off-grid Eco Studio on 17 acres only 3 kms from the coast as the crow flies............. you can hear the surf in the quiet of the evening. Nearby are opportunities for many activities, such as cycling, paddling, surfing, fishing. Or don't go anywhere, and just sit outside enjoying the view in the peace and quiet. Wake up in the morning to symphony of bird calls, or listen to the snuffles and grunts of echidnas, wombats, possums and koalas in the evenings. When available, fresh produce from our organic home garden is available for sale. Cook on the outdoor kitchen with barbecue, gas stove and oven. Or stay indoors and use the microwave, kettle, toaster. Close enough to our home for security, but far enough for complete privacy for us all. Up to 2 QUIET fur children welcomed (but not sheep or chook chasers please!). PLEASE CHECK further description of what is provided, and indicate if you are bringing your pet(s). Thanks! :)

Cozy cabin
I spent a couple of relaxing nights in Jo's eco-cabin. I liked the style of the cabin which uses recycled materials which gives it a great sense of personality, enhanced by home-made quilts and fresh flowers. The cabin is heated by a pot belly stove which went out on my first night, but the double-glazed windows and insulation meant it was not too cold. I made sure I collected plenty of kindling the next morning so I had a good fire the next night. There is an outdoor kitchen which would be great in summer, but I only used the kettle and microwave indoors. The location is good - close to Venus Bay and Wilsons Prom.

Jo’s eco lodge is such a lovely and cosy spot, the lodge itself is full of everything you could need as well as a log burner which kept us toasty all night and the surrounding land is beautiful. We also saw a completely clear night sky full of stars just outside which was a highlight. Jo herself was incredibly helpful and accommodating - I couldn’t recommend it more ! We can’t wait to come back :)

Cosy Cabin With Creature Comforts
We LOVED our 4 night stay here - the studio is cosy, comfy & catered to all our creature comforts. The bed was really comfortable & we were super warm overnight. The bathroom is well equipped and the shower was beautifully hot. The kitchenette paired with the outdoor kitchen, meant we fed ourselves easily and the full-sized fridge meant we could keep our wine chilled! The pot belly stove kicks out some amazing heat & keeps the studio toasty. Jo and Rus were friendly and accommodating and made us feel really welcome. 🌈 They generously shared their space with us. We enjoyed day trips to Venus Bay & Wilson’s Prom and also spent a lot of time chilling back at base. We LOVED our stay here & would highly recommend it. We’re looking forward to our next stay at Jo & Rus’s studio 😊 the only thing we’d change is the fact that we had to leave!
