Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2023.
Located in the town of Beltana, the campsites are adjacent to the local hall. There are showers, toilets, a free BBQ in the community park , mobile phone coverage and potable water available for sale. We are the closest campground to the new Nilpena Ediacara National Park. Beltana is a State Heritage listed town in Adnyamathanha country. Beltana is important as it is the home of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, was influential in the establishment of the Overland Telegraph and was important is the states early settlement. Beltana has survived in spite of the challenges and has an excellent walking trail detailing this history for visitors. There is capacity to have a fire in a communal fire pit, but please bring your own wood. Dogs on leashes welcome. This campsite offers a safe and comfortable place for campers who are travelling through on their holiday and need somewhere to stop overnight, but two nights is recommended to give you a chance to visit this historic town. The town is significant is South Australian history and there is interpretative signage that provides the visitor with an informative trail. Whilst with us visit the new Nilpena Ediacara National Park. We have the closest camping facilities.

Fabulous stay at Beltana
We have totally enjoyed 2 days in our caravan with 2 dogs and 2 canaries. Sitting around a camp fire cooking dinner with kangaroos casually hoping by, hiding in the bushes watching. The rawness of the country and imagining how different life would have been for our pioneers, and a walk to the cemetery is definitely worth visiting. The Victoria Hotel is being renovated and will re open, so definitely worth a trip back for us. Jan so kindly opened the hall and the paintings were amazing. So was talking with Jan and her husband, the love they have for Beltana and what the progress association has achieved is truly fantastic. Extremely environmentally friendly with leaving no trace. Toilets and showers are immaculate. This is very humbling country 🙏 Cheers Kaye and Rog

We stayed on Site 6 and both 5 & 6 are great for larger rigs. Sites 1-4 are good areas and close to amenities and children’s play area. Beltana Historic Town is well worth driving the 10k off the highway to explore this gem.

Great site for access to Nilpena
We stayed 2 nights on site 6 at Beltana so that we could do the Nilpena fossil experience (which was excellent). It’s very close- only about 15-20 minutes now because the road to Beltana is sealed all the way to the outskirts of the town. (The town’s dirt roads help maintain Beltana’s historic appeal). The first night we were the only campers and in the evening we sat and watched the stars come out- horizon to horizon and when the wind dropped at sunset there was total silence. Just gorgeous! The second night there were a few camps and Jan came and opened up the Hall- it’s hard to believe but it’s set up as a bar come art gallery! The facilities are very clean. I’m very happy we stayed there and recommend it to travellers in the area.

What a great camp with an incredible ambience. Stepping back in time but being in the beauty of the present... sitting on the deck with fellow hipcampers making connections as we watched the vibrant colours of an outback sunset. Met Jan in the morning and had a wonderful chat hearing about Beltana today... the strong community spirit and seeing what has been achieved with the restoration of the Hall and the facilities that have been put in place for visitors. My second visit to Beltana and I definitely would like to come back again. Thankyou Jan & the Beltana Community.

Just brilliant
Fantastic campground with great amenities I just love staying here so much that I came back for a second night. Beltana is fascinating and the local progress association has done a brilliant job in the town to make it interesting for visitors. Staying here has been one of the highlights of this trip to the Flinders. Thank you to the locals who do such a brilliant job
