Family-friendly
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

Site 6 - C Colo - Just Beautiful
Great overall location. Site 6 a little tucked away which was nice except there was construction works happening all day and ton of mosquitos from the stagnant water nearby. Good, friendly, helpful hosts.

Site 4 - C Colo - just beautiful
Definitely recommend
Steve was a fantastic host! Couldn’t do enough to help and make sure we made the most out of our weekend. Very easy to get to from Sydney, beautiful scenery and the canoes hired were perfect for cruising down the river. Excellent paddling lesson from Steve as well! Definitely recommend

Site 5 - C- Colo - Just Beautiful..
Lovely spot right on the colo river only half an hour out of Sydney, the host Steve was very friendly and accomodating, he even brought us freshly baked brownies both evenings we were there. You can hire a canoe, go for a hike or just go fishing from the bank, then just relax next to your campfire. Highly recommended
