Special Crew Camp
Camping for the adventurous
Bonnie Doon is a family friendly campsite for outdoor enthusiasts seeking both relaxation and adventure.
Matt was friendly, easy and helpful in the pre booking process, and when on site he was always quick to respond, if we needed anything. We also met the family dog Jargo or Jago. He visited us a lot and liked to play fetch. The kids loved him.
One of the standout features of this campsite is undoubtedly the dam, which serves as a focal point for both recreation and relaxation. There is just so much provided. There is a slide, a rope swing, a kayak, even a trampoline you can jump off into the water from the platform. But the best thing about the campsite is the rock climbing wall towering above the water, climb if you dare.
We paid a fee to use the outdoor shower and the drop toilets (which were pretty clean). The outdoor shower had a powerful shower head with hot water. Which was lovely after a swim in the dam.
The only con I can think of, the toilets were a bit of a walk to get too. Matt said he plans to build more toilet near ‘special camp crew’ site, which would be perfect.
The site layout, allowed for a group of 14 people with ample space and privacy. Drinking water and a fire pit is also provided. You can byo firewood or you can purchase off Matt. We purchase a trailer full and they burnt well.
Thanks for our stay Matt, your property is amazing! We would definitely be back during the summer.

The Grassy Paddock
Beautiful and quiet place to stay with our van. Matt was a great host giving us plenty of information about his property. Thoroughly enjoyed the serenity, looking forward to coming back one day.

The West Camp
Rock climbers dream
Thank you Matthew to yourself and your wife for opening up your property for campers. This was certainly the best Hipcamp experience we have had to date.
We took our Hybrid 4.7 meter camper in and out without issue. Took advantage of the drinking water supplied. We were fully self contained however appreciated the long drop toilets supplied were well set up and clean. Firepits supplied, optional firewood was great value and burnt well. Plenty of room to spread out or be completely isolated.
The boys (and I) had such a great time exploring your property and we will definitely be back with the rock climbing gear next time!
An absolute hidden gem that we couldn't recommend high enough
Thank you
The Dam Camp
Great spot not far from Blackheath and all the area has to offer. We booked very late but Matthew was super responsive and helpful. Both he and Marianne are friendly and up for a chat. The site itself is in a rustic bush setting by the dam with plenty of gum trees, plus lots of undercover space and even a fireplace in the open shed, which came in handy when it rained. Kids had a paddle and a swim when the sun was out and even convinced us to have a dip. They also loved playing with the dog Jago. There’s a good walk from the property with a lookout over the valley. Just a short drive to Dargan Arch which is a very cool but not often explored bushwalk in the national park, recommended by Matthew. The trucks and trains can be a bit noisy overnight but we had a great time and are glad we came across this via Hipcamp.
