Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT/mud tyres only and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own chemical camping toilets. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. We reserve the right to view/verify your toilet before allowing you access to the elevated/remote sites. Well behaved dogs welcome as long as they are on a lead when moving about the property. The common area (old shearing shed) has composting toilets, communal fridge, microwave, jug, drinking water, sink for washing up and table/chairs. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.Stonesthrow Bush Camping suits self-contained 4WD campers with camper trailer/tent. Campsites should be selected based on weather, personal preference and size required. Bring all that you need and remove all rubbish upon leaving. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). The property is very private, offering peace of mind and security. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.  Dogs are welcome however we ask that you please discuss this with us first.

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
This was our first bush camping as a family with 3 young children and we were blown away! The property is absolutely beautiful, our kids played in the creek by our site almost all day every day. The owners and groundskeepers were so friendly, welcoming and accomodating; opening up their space for others to enjoy. We opted for a site close to the amenities down the bottom of the property and it was still so beautiful with the flowing creek surrounding our site. We hiked up to the top of the property using the map at the shed and the view was spectacular ; we even got to see the 2 gorgeous horses. The animals were a highlight for our animal obsessed children - peacocks and peacock babies, American heritage turkeys and their babies, what seemed like 50odd chickens and their chicks, goats, 4 friendly dogs and of course the Guinea fowls! The toilets were well maintained and clean. Affordable firewood for purchase too which helped keep the mosquitos at bay the whole trip. A memorable 3 night stay, will definitely be back in the future. Couldn't recommend enough.

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
We really loved our stay at Stonesthrow. We were really looking for a of couple days to relax and unwind and Stonesthrow delivered. Beautifully picturesque, quiet and only 1 and a 1/2 hours from the northside of Brisbane. Our campsite was clean & freshly mowed, and because we were up in a somewhat isolated spot, we had our own bush toilet to use which was also clean. Steve was super helpful, and the communication was great. I'd highly recommend Stonesthrow, I'm sure we will be back

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
Loved the spot that Steve gave us on top of the hillside. Beautiful views and really quiet spot. Would definitely need a 4WD to get to this location and have a good fitness level to walk down to the creek and back.
