It was much more than I expected.
Luvina is kind and helpful. There campsite is beautiful by the pond. I could see all stars. Kangaroos came when I was cooking breakfast.

There were so many mixed reviews already, I wasn’t expecting too much but was also ready to be pleasantly surprised. I was not. Site 1 & 2 are def the better pick. Site 1 was free for the night I stayed (perhaps allocated & a no show?), I may have written a slightly different review had I been placed on that site; it’s spacious, has a bit of green grass & overlooks one of the dams.
I was on site 3: very underwhelming for the almost $80. It looks unkept with furniture that may have once been nice but now beyond rustic. I don’t mind a simple space & camp set up, but this was not worth what I paid. I chatted to the person staying on site 4 & she said the same thing. There should be a price difference for the sites that aren’t 1 & 2.
The dams are brown, which may be normal but I wouldn’t personally be doing kayaking or swimming. The kayaks were thoughtlessly submerged in random places.
The highlight & probably the reason for the high cost, is the Little River, which is Aprox 1km walk down: not part of the property but in the National Park. There is a short trial from the site connecting it.
I wear earplugs, so wasn’t bothered, but the woman on site 4, got up to the toilet in the night, the dogs barked & barked from then.
A clunky feature of the stay, is not being given the gate code with checking details & having to call AT the gate ON arrival.
Served its purpose for an overnight stop in long travel but I won’t be back nor would I have wanted a multiple evenings.

Beautiful spot! Decent camp ground with two cute little waterholes and short walk too a natural swimming hole. Amenities are basic but very clean. Worth a visit!

Look, it’s ok, people are far too close together, information isn’t great, we didn’t even see the drinking water that was available, until the last day

Overall we had a good time. Unfortunately it felt much overprized for what it was (bare campsite, flush toilet not working, alternative drop toilet was ok, no shower, far away water tank, uneven dirt floor for tent, murky dam). Good was fireplace and relatively quiet site.

Lucinda responded quickly to all enquiries. Lovely little bush camp for people with dogs. Fire pit was lovely and very clean compost toilets. So accessible to the little river and the lovely aqua pool. Certainly more expensive than most of the NSW parks but we haven’t used hip camp before.

Very nice Area! Lots of Wildlife and the journey to the little River was fun and a medium hike level. Our puppies absolutely loved it there and like to swim and run around. Very spacious areas so campers are not on top of each other.
Communication between myself and Luvina was easy and clear. Would definitely recommended and would love to stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay - next to two dams with turtles and yabbys !
The swimming hole was fantastic and beautiful to trek to - 15min.
Flushing w/c is available next to sites 1&2 which was a welcome surprise
Sites were spaced out adequately and kids enjoyed the kayaks on the dam

Had a great time camping here again! The sites are well maintained, friendly and helpful hosts, the dam is also a nice way to cool off. Toilets are also a huge plus, would definitely come back here again!

Directions and map were clear and the property is conveniently close to small towns / shops. The large dam looked inviting but we opted to go to the pools which was a 20min walk or so innthe heat, but definitely worth it is gorgeous! Composting toilet near site 5 was supriprisingly clean.

This is our second time visiting The Secret Getaway! This time we came with a group of friends and our dogs! To say we had a great time is an understatement- even with the 40 degree heat. Thank god for being able to swim in the dam. The sites are flat and easy to access. Since we went last time they have put in a flushable toilet which is a nice little addition. The composting toilets are perfectly fine though. Highly recommend this camp for big groups or just a quick getaway for a couple!

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
We enjoyed our stay at The Secret Getaway. The road into the camp ground was easy and accessible for 2WD cars. We were allocated camp #2, which had full exposure to the sun, so it got really hot on a 40deg day we were there.
But it didn't dampen our experience. We didn't swim in either dams (water was a little muddy) and Aqua Pool and Little River was about a 20-25min hike.
Luvina and Victor were great hosts. Instructions were clear and they were very responsive to msgs.
Would recommend it for families.

The campsite at Buxton was really lovely to have a true bush experience. We had a site with a fire pit which we enjoyed, and it was very close to a dam, which was lovely to cool down in a float around in on our Lilo's.. We are new to camping We're amazed at how clean and well thought out the toilets were.. the most amazing dropout I've ever seen with everything you need. We had an amazing walk to the aqua pools.. It is a quite a big walk and I recommend sturdy shoes and even aqua shoes for walking in the river.. It was a great experience and the children loved floating down the river and jumping off the rocks. The campsites were far enough away from others but enough to know that you weren't alone. It was really great for a first time.
Also checking in and out was easy. Highly recommend..

The location is good,
Sites are not as secluded for big groups as the description seem to indicate.
I would recommend the host to lower the cost price per guest, or at least diminishing returns on more guests.
The site was 65$ per night, and we ended up paying $300 per night for guests to max out the indicated guests per site. Service includes toilets and water, no trash removal for that price.

Fantastic place to stay with lots of space and nice privacy, we arrived later than we would’ve wanted but Luvina was still on hand to help us find the property.
Nice and peaceful place with lots to do and decent facilities for how rural it is! We would love to return at some point

We had a really nice view from our camp spot (Spot 1) right over the dam. The campground is a short walk from a really cool swimming hole. Good facilities!

Great spot above the big dam. Spent the heatwave (41degrees) here and being able to swim in the dam or down at the river (10min walk) was perfect. Felt like we had it to ourselves despite 2 or 3 others being there. Loads of space. Also feels quite off grid but only a short drive to town to pick up any bits you need.

Great location with lots of features. Both Dams are perfect for cooling off kids/dogs - both have really good access, and plenty of vegetation and shade. Sites are spaced-out well and directions provided were great.
Highlight was the walk down to down to Little River, which was easy to find.

We had a great time. Lovely dams and spacious grounds with well kept toilets. The little River walk with natural water pools and waterfall was devine! There was some night time dog howling (or was it dingos, hehe?) but I guess "wildlife" noises are part of the camping fun 😊.

Went here during the Christmas break expecting to have a lot of pther campers around but for our surprise, there weren't many. Camp sites are far from each other ensuring privacy. The entire campsite is well secure in a fenced area.
The flush toilet was clean and well maintained. Although the camp site is close to a town, it felt like being in a remote place. There are lot of trees providing shade and dams are a nice thing to have.
The best part of this campsite is that it is close to the aqua pools. 20 mins steep hike to the beautiful water holes.
We met the owners when they were there to restock toilet supplies. They were very helpful.

Lots of nice campsites spaced well apart. Clean and tidy property.
Kayaks to use on the bigger dam.
A very informative map of the site and a list of lots of things to do in the local area made me want to stay longer and explore.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
This was our 2nd time off grid with our caravan. It was a very relaxing stay. We were on Site 1 and found it great. Plenty of room. Had the view of both dams. We did go for the hike to the waterhole which was absolutely beautiful when we got to the bottom. Went for a swim. Water was so clear. We found communication with Luvina was great. She was very helpful.

This spot is really beautiful, the sites are nicely spaced out and the walk to little river was really nice. The instructions provided were very clear and helpful and the site was super easy to find! Heaps of ammenities provided, would definitely come back :)
