Walden Ranch began with the purchase of a neighboring 20 acres. Couple that with the inspiration of Thoreau's lines and life at the real Walden Pond, the ranch has grown to nearly 300 acres and the small ranch pond has grown to a 5-acre lake with a 3-acre forest and home. Scouts, family and church groups use the site for gatherings. Available are canoes, bonfire, and exploring the ranch's 300-head cattle, llamas, poultry and wildlife. Pitch your tent in a forest setting alongside a lake on a working cattle ranch. Watch wildlife or hike to smaller lakes on the ranch. Other animals include dogs, llamas, geese, chickens, and horses. The ranch is within a 20 minute drive to either Stockton or Lodi, CA and is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and pastures. Outdoor flush toilets, sink, tables and fire ring available. Forested area is set amidst grazing lands. This "Walden" even has willow trees slipped from Walden Pond, MA. Owner looks forward to sharing this peaceful, special spot! Heaven for Kids and Adults

Alan's Ranch was beautiful and a perfect place to take my niece. There were a wide variety of animals to see and the site was beautiful. Alan was extremely kind and responsive to all our needs. I highly recommend this hipcamp!

Walden Ranch Camping

Camping on a ranch was such a wonderful experience. My daughter loved seeing alpaca grazing. Having access to a flush toilet provided creature comforts.

This place is MAGICAL and everything a family could want for a camping trip with younger kids. It has it all. Alan is a fantastic host. Plus, peacocks!

Dog friendly heaven

Great place to relax and let loose. The site is near a pond. You will see cattle and other farm animals in there fenced off areas. You must love dogs. We brought three when we went and they were off leash most of the time. The owner has friendly dogs off leash that play around the ranch. Expect them to say hi often. Will be coming back!

Walden Ranch Camping

Camping with super friendly dogs.

We LOVED tent camping at Alan's Ranch. They had usable barbecues and a fire pit that asked for a $10 donation per day for wood which is an incredible deal! Alan was very friendly and had 6 of the sweetest dogs you could ask for. They would walk us around the property and made sure we made it to the bathrooms ok. If you love dogs and a serene environment this is the place for you! We will definitely be coming back in the near future!

Walden Ranch Camping

Everything was perfect. The owner is very nice and easy going. The campsite was set in a lovely area away from the main house giving you plenty of privacy.Meeting some of the animals was fun. Our dogs had a blast with the owner dogs and other animals. Bathroom was clean and works like it should. Would definitely come back.
