Site 1 - Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows
Amazing spot if you have dogs.
It thunder-stormed the whole weekend of my trip but it was one of the best camping trips I've been on. Why?? Because of their off-leash dog policy. My dog is the most adventurous explorer and my camping partner. She sniffed every inch of the property and I didn't have to worry about someone yelling at us. Please never change this policy. Campsite 1 was pretty private and very spacious. It's right next to the road, but tucked away. You can see the cars drive by but it didn't bother us. It's pretty quiet otherwise. The road up to the Retreat is a bit unkempt- I would recommend a truck or SUV. One of the people next to me popped his tire on the road. The only negative thing I will say is that there were a bunch of 'widowmakers' (dead trees) above campsite 1. I was relatively nervous about these during the storm. Well, that and maybe the picnic table could use a revamp. It's very old and a bit wobbly and splintery. There are "stadium seating" for the campers at this campsite. The boards on the seating are pretty wobbly, so I'd keep children off of there. Otherwise, this campsite was WONDERFUL. We plan on coming back.

Beautiful scenery. Campsites were nice. We had campsite 2 which was not as large or open as the other sites. It was a decent site.
There was plenty of fresh firewood. A lake we used for fishing (didn’t catch anything), The showers and bathrooms closest to the cabins were nice, the ones closest to the camp site needed some work. A slop sink for doing dishes would have been nice.
Also, you really do need to download details before you arrive. We had no reception at all for phone or internet. I would go to this campground again. Our dog was very happy here!

Blue’s first camping trip!
We LOVEd Shenandoah Meadows! This was our dog’s first camping trip so it was extra special that we had the whole tent camp area to ourselves — he loved being off leash in the meadows!!! Our site featured the beauty of the wide open field with a hiking trail right there in the woods. We really appreciated the shortcut trail by site 4 to bathhouse 2, it was beautiful. If there were other people camping, we would’ve loved site 3 which had more trees for privacy, but truly each site has its own charm here. We were a little lost with the map as soon as we pulled in, but the host was nearby and very helpful! We kept seeing him around but he gave us space and privacy which we appreciated.

Good Place to Pitch a Tent
My second time camping here, and again it was great. It's a good looking well kept place to pitch a tent.

Core memories at camp site #2
Camp site 2 has a beautiful view of the pond and mountains. My family enjoyed our weekend stay. We very much enjoyed the freedom of watching our dogs swim in the pond and spend time as a family around the camp grounds playing football and lacrosse. We’d very much like to come back in the fall for another visit!

Site 6 - Retreat at Shenandoah Meadows
I loved this campsite. Really spacious and surrounded by a lot of nature which that’s exactly what I was looking for. My dog had a great time specially since he was able to be free and no leash. I liked how we don’t have to check in with anyone you can just go to your site. Beware with the ticks!
