We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Site 1 - Rusty's Retreat

Country Livin

Great location for our activities in and around Toledo and Detroit. It was peaceful with the river and creek right next to the tent. Plenty of wildlife to hear, see, and watch. We enjoyed walking the property and seeing the farm animals. Hosts were very helpful and responsive.

rusty’s is great! he’s got lots of land and lots to do. he was incredibly accommodating and very kind. he went out of his way to be helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. campsites range from secluded woods to right on the pond to waking up next to rusty’s pasture. we had a great time and would recommend rusty’s retreat to anyone from first time campers to experienced

Site 3 - Rusty's Retreat

We really enjoyed our stay here. The campsites are spread out enough to allow for privacy and the sound of the creek at night was great for sleeping. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Rusty's RV Retreat Site 2 creekside

Very remote and private, only a few sites and far from each other but you still see one another and say hi. Jay is very friendly and a great host. He drives up and down on his golf cart and makes sure we all have what we need

Site 3 - Rusty's Retreat

Land of enchantment!

I'm so glad we stopped at Jay's farm. Although I only stayed one night, it was enough to feel the peace of that place. Without a doubt a very warm space. Jay is a very hospitable person and you can see that he loves what he does and the place where he lives. I hope to come back some day.
