(9) Tenaya Camp
Great option near Yosemite
This was an excellent find near to Yosemite. Great views of the area and a good spot for night-time photography. I visited in May and several hours after sunset the Milky Way was visible. It is wide open so if you visit during a rainy/stormy time I imagine a stay here might be miserable, but with good weather it is a great option. I did not see places for hammocks so plan for tent or car camping. Access to indoor bathrooms and showers was a huge perk and made the higher price more justifiable. They were the nicest and cleanest bathrooms/showers I've ever seen outside of a home or hotel (kudos to the employee I saw cleaning them). The road to the upper spots is no issue if you have AWD or 4WD but small 2-wheel vehicles may have trouble. They provide potable water near each site and there is hose access by the bathrooms if needed.
