TENT CAMPING ONLY. Please do not book a site if you plan to use an RV with a holding tank. Come visit the farm and stay with us! We have primitive tent camping and a cozy little cabin. Blackwater Birds and Bees is a developing farm that started in 2016. If you're looking for privacy, you won't find a better place in Southeastern Virginia. It's over 100 acres on the Blackwater River with access to over 2 miles of waterfront without leaving the property. The river is much like a cypress swamp with large channels running through the middle and it creates a perfect environment for all kinds of spectacular wildlife. We have kayaks and canoes available for campers to use for free and a Jon boat with trolling motor available for rent. Fishing is permitted in our large pond and on the river. The farm currently features an apiary, vegetable garden, blueberry bushes, and animals including ducks, chickens, geese, and goats. The cabin features a full-size bed complete with linens/bedding as well as a sleeping loft for 2 additional guests. While the cabin does not have electricity or plumbing, it does have battery operated lights and an outhouse with flush toilet on site for the convenience of cabin guests. We have a farm shop stocked with local products, camping essentials, fishing gear, and much more! *Site #4 is about 75 yards into the woods away from the parking space.* Check us out on Instagram @blackwater_birds_and_bees

      I brought my employees out for a day of fun on the lake. I had a great time with my family and my employees family. It is always beautiful at black water birds and bees. We all had a great time caught fish played in the water and grilled out and beautiful weather.

      The Blackwater Bungalow
      What a Wonderful Weekend!
      I decided to choose a site with pre-existing comfort while I attended a training in VA Beach. The Blackwater Bungalow was THE perfect place to rest in nature without having to do the legwork of setting up camp! Mike greeted me in my rushed check in and showed me to my cabin. James and I didn't run into one another until the following morning. I ended up adding an extra night so I could take advantage of the beautiful spot, but I wish I had more free time and hope to return when I do to enjoy more of their offerings and some more time to unwind in the trees! :)

      Amazing Gem of a Campground
      Wonderful weekend camping at Blackwater Birds and Bees! The site and grounds had everything we needed. We added on the edible foliage experience and learned so much! Sheep sorrel was our favorite! I definitely want to come back with the kids next time.

      The grounds were absolutely beautiful! We were greeted upon arrival, given our 1/2 dozen eggs (which I highly recommend adding!!), and told about the property. Part of our party utilized the kayaks and had a great time! We had a middle of the night emergency and had to leave, so we didn’t get to watch the sunrise, but I am looking forward to going back next time I am in town! Loved the place, highly recommend!
