Step back in time and explore the rich history of this property, once a mining camp in 1910, now a ghost town. Slated for strip mining in 2015, the land found a new purpose when I purchased it, safeguarding it for the future. Our non-profit is transforming the area into a conservation area with a purpose. Today, the Sonoran Desert Sanctuary is an evolving conservation area and private wilderness retreat for veterans and others challenged by PTSD. As we embark on this journey, we invite you to come and witness the transformation as we grow and evolve. Volunteer opportunities abound for those with a passion for conservation and a love for the desert. Join us in shaping the sanctuary and contributing to the preservation of this unique ecosystem. Your visit and involvement become a part of the story, helping us create a haven for the Sonoran Desert's diverse flora and fauna. The proceeds from your Hipcamp stay go directly to the Anderson-Arroyo Foundation (501c3) and are tax-deductible as a donation. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the desert landscape, participate in our growth, and leave your mark on the future Sonoran Desert Sanctuary. Visit us and explore the unique blend of history, conservation, and community that defines our special corner of the world. Tours of the ghost town and surrounding canyons are available. You can fish the lake, rent kayaks, go birding, hike, meditate, or bring your telescope for the Class 2 Dark Night skies! 3.5 hours from Phoenix, Vegas. 4 hours from Flagstaff. 2 hours from Lake Havasu or Kingman.

Alamo Lake - Tent And RV campsite
Desert Night Sky…. Beautiful Oasis
This Desert Oasis campsite was beautiful with convenient amenities to include fishing, swimming, hiking, fire pits, and clean showers/restrooms. If you love stargazing this is the place to be! Love’s Campground was quite and very peaceful. We highly recommend the the ghost tour. The catered breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious and refreshing after hiking and exploring through the desert campground. Jen, our host, was welcoming and so full of knowledge. If we return to AZ we hope to reserve another stay at Love’s Camp. We loved it here!

Alamo Lake - Tent And RV campsite
Jen was very helpful and responsive to messages/needs. The property is beautiful and you could spend a whole day exploring and only see a fraction of what’s there. If you go be sure to bring a telescope the night sky is amazing!

Glamping Tent #2
Loved it. Tent and site were incredible, comfortable, and beautiful. Our site was a rocky unmarked drive from the lake, but we figured it out with Jen’s directions! Super great host before, during, and after. Definitely want to come back in the fall!

Jens land is beautiful and has amazing views. There are tons of off road trails to explore. My daughters and I had a wonderful time camping on Jen's land. Alamo lake was beautiful and very close to the site. We will definitely be staying here again.

1 of a Kind Desert Experience 💜
“Secluded Alama Lake Sanctuary” true to its name. I found exactly what I was looking for in a host and a peaceful retreat into the desert wilderness. Jen is an amazing host with an amazing background. I admire her intentions for this beautiful piece of land. She is one of the most down to earth, knowledgeable, kind, heartfelt souls I have ever met. I made a true friend in just a few days of being.. I had the privilege to be there during the partial lunar eclipse and worm moon and what a sacred place to be for that experience with the night sky, to havre a full view with no city noises or light pollution. It was an amazing experience all around for; watching the sunrise and the sunset, hiking, camping and immersing yourself into the desert wilderness. Like the title states for this review, it is a one of a kind experience that you will never forget.
