This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants including hemp. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Note: You cannot drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway as the path is an old forest road which has been gated, but you can walk up to it.) We also have a small, uncovered tree house which is available on a first come, first served basis. Only site 4 is next to the brook. However, the site positions are for the purposes of the listing only. You may camp anywhere on the property. There is plenty of frontage on the creek and several tents can go up there. We also now have a purple bus which is retrofitted as a camper and has a refrigerator, stove and television which is connected to our internet. Site 4 - Tent camping by a gurgling brook

We actually stayed in the site right next to the parking lot which was nice and flat. We did not explore the other sites or the land because we arrived after 7 pm on a stormy night and we left early the next morning. Roni was very communicative with us through the app. We are sorry we didn’t get to meet her in person. We would stay here again if we are ever in the area again. It is pretty remote but not too far from the BRP.

We had a last minute change of plans and ended up not being able to stay, and it didn't feel right to cancel last minute, so we didn't even ask. Roni was VERY communicative during the whole process, so we'd definitely stay if we're in the area again.

Overall, fine experience. We got there late, so hard to see and a bit confusing on where to set up, but directions were given ahead of time and host was very kind and communicative!

Site 3 - Tent camping by a gurgling brook

Toni provided detailed, easy to follow instructions prior to arrival for location, parking and camp site. We opted for the site that had a flat area made for tents. Our 4 person tent fit exactly perfectly. It was quiet and the little creek was soothing.

Site 5 - Tent camping by a gurgling brook

Not as described

This property was not really as advertised. We have the smallest pop-up available and there was no room to maneuver, this is a tent-only property. The description mentioned at least two sites and we were told we had our choice of sites. We could only find one, and it was about 15 feet from the pit toilet. Walking to the back of the site showed landscape debris pushed back down the bank to make room for the site. For the first time in our hip camp adventures we opted for a hotel.
