Once a place where Whisky was made under prohibition, the regulators came and bashed down the stills that are still standing along the stream banks. This area was a bulwark for natives that hunted and fished along the stream banks, and there's artifacts that can still can be observed along the canyon where hikers can enjoy. Loving the simple life!
Great very primitive camping! We lived "roughing it" there. A beautiful scenic forest set way back in the middle of nowhere! VERY much alone at this camp, although we saw a few people, but they lived on a neighboring farm. The host was trmendous! She brought us hot coffee everyday we were there and we had some wonderful conversations together. Very helpful on the directions even if the directions took us the wrong way at first. Make sure you call before you get of off Little Marrowbone Rd!! I would definitely recommend this if you love to be alone and camp with nothing but a tent. This is you place! Again, thank you Valerie for your wonderful hospitality!

Unable to reach host/ Bad reception
The Host was unreachable the week prior to and day of my booking. I was unable to find the location based on the directions and instructions provided, and went home after a hour of searching, messaging, and calling. I was very disappointed as the reviews from last year got me very excited to experience this “haven outside Nashville”. The Host finally responded 24 hours later, and happily refunded my booking, and hipcamp refunded my booking fees. Host justified the experience by stating that the reception is bad (true) with an ongoing problem with message delays. One would hope that with known communication issues, the host would adapt and provide clearer instructions that don’t include requiring guests to contact and meet the host at arrival. And then not respond to messages or check in with guest until the day after booking begins… hope this gets sorted out soon, seemed like a super cool place.

Beautiful area
Very beautiful place and host is very accommodating. We will be visiting often! There are lots of critters and it’s So peaceful at night! We had a fire pit with a wooden bench. Can’t wait to return! ❤️

Flora and Fauna
I found Valerie to be a very nice person once we finally got together and her property is a beautiful forested site. The problem was with communication and directions. Google maps got lost because I put in a road name from the directions that took me to a dead end at a creek. I eventually had to ask a local where a road was. A road the directions said had a street sign marking it. There was no street sign and there was no way I could possibly have known that this was the gravel road I was supposed to go down without the help of the friendly local. During this time and actually starting from the day before I made many attempts to contact the host via text. Not a single response. Even after I found the spot where I was directed to contact her and she would come and show me to my site I got no response. I waited there for an hour and was about to return to Nashville and get a motel room when she came along on her way home from work and found me there. She apparently does not check her texts at all and does not feel obligated to even be on the property at the time she was scheduled to meet me. I strongly recommend that you do not try to find this property without being in clear communication with her before you leave home.
