We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. Part of our retirement planning is to spend next several years developing the lower portion of the property (approx. 15 acres) into a campground and retreat for our guests, as well as our own family, friends, and grandchildren. The campground area (currently) consists of a handful of primitive campsites, and a group area. We are working steadily on improvements, including adding more sites, improving the roadways, and upgrading the common areas. In all we will likely have 12-15 total designated camping areas (including a group area or two, as well as a couple hike to secluded locations). For much more details regarding our philosophy, history, and future plans please visit our website at www.zen-acres.com. There is also a lot of additional information listed on the individual campsite descriptions.

We absolutely love this location and there are no spots that aren't worth it. Mike and team are always making improvements. They are super helpful, responsive and I can't enough good about them.

The host Mike is a great host. He is friendly and quick to respond. It was wonderful being able to let our three dogs be free to explore and not have to put them on leash. The land is gorgeous and the forest is so nice. The camp Spots are well maintained and sizable. The cons: our camp Sight was right next to the road which was stated in the description however the host or his familly member would drive their atv's up and down the road all day long delivering wood and or checking on whatever they were doing. This kindof ruined my need for forest bathing and quiet time to be honest. I was expecting a few cars that would need to go by to and from sights but this was different, the nose was often from the atv's. Also, the nicest places to sit to be in the forest were two great decks that looked out over the river. However, they were so old and rickety I felt unsafe on them and since they are making even more camp-sights available (which overall would be a lot of sights) we're talking more potential accidents. I just feel this place would be better if the ATV's weren't a constant backdrop of noise and that they fixed the decks so ppl could more safely use and enjoy the only spots to really be alone in nature due to the very close proximity of the actual camp sights to eachother. Also one very big problem was the outhouse nearest to our camp was almost overflowing. It was absolutely awful and they obviously needed to get them serviced more frequently. Overall, b-..

Great getaway!
We loved our stay! Beautiful camp area and great host. All of the sites look great and #5/hemlock was perfect for our 18ft RPod camper. Tip for other campers, as long as there’s no one in the group site, the end of the road is a great place to turnaround if you need a better way to get into your campsite. Also, there is no AT&T cell service, which could be good or bad depending on your expectations:). We can’t wait to go back!

Very beautiful spot for a quick getaway from Portland. Really loved that there were only a few other people at the property, it was very quiet and secluded. Our doggy loved being off leash to explore too! The river was beautiful and we even found a little waterfall. Great spot!
