Yost Ridge boondock Finger Lakes
Keep it simple!
Nice, flat grassy field surrounded by farmland. We pitched our tent in the dark and were greeted by an incredible sunrise in the morning! The bovine and equine neighbors were quiet - and a fun attraction for the kids. Dawn is a responsive and helpful host.

Beautiful Farm Camping
This is a beautiful site on a quiet road with expansive views and active farm land all around. In addition to the electric and water, the location has 4 bars of cel service and picks up a wide variety of antenna tv signals. When you’ve been of grid for a few days, that can be kinda nice for checking in, etc. The hosts are super friendly and hospitable. If you’re lucky, Steve will be around and he can tell you all about the area. There are winery and brewery options in all directions, a lovely fire pit, and plenty of horses and cows in the distance for ambience. We’ll stop in again the next time through.
Yost Ridge in The Finger Lakes
The sunrises, sunsets, and stars were phenomenal, as was the attentiveness of Steve, the camp manager, who stopped by several times to see if we needed anything. Dawn was also very responsive to my messages, even before I booked!
The site was recently mowed with attention to creating a pleasing outdoor space, and we enjoyed walking the nature path at the bottom of the property (which we imagine will be gorgeous once the wildflowers -- or whatever is growing in the natural spaces -- bloom), in addition to just sitting on the bench or at the firepit to experience the natural world. The birdsong and bird dances (it's that time of year) were spellbinding, as was watching the horses and foals prancing in neighboring fields. Oh, and the white rabbit (I kid you not!) that was cavorting across the lawn around our teardrop trailer was simply magical.
The proximity to the two homes on either side of the site gave us much less privacy than we had hoped for due to the openness of the property. The neighbor with the dogs was super-friendly, and was really trying to keep his dogs from barking, but not having much success.
We would recommend this site to folks who enjoy the convenience of full hookup with the beauty of farmland as far as the eye can see, but if you're looking for something private and quiet, this is not ideal.
