We are a family owned/operated ranch, located along the Cosumnes River, one of the last un-dammed rivers in California. As one of the last rivers flowing from the west slope of the Sierra without a major dam, the Cosumnes is a vital example of a healthy watershed. Our goal is to offer a unique outdoor experience for anyone looking for a place to spend time in the great outdoors. Whether you're looking for a single campsite, or a place for a larger gathering, we're excited to have you visit! Take your pick of activities available on site: swimming , gold panning, fishing, camp fires, wildlife watching, floating, hiking, and mountain biking to name a few. There are 3 miles of river to explore. Private and noise free. Porta potties on site.

Site 4 - Sawyer's Bar
Beautiful getaway
Such a great place to unplug for a while. Great for "beginner tent campers". I reserved Sawyer 4 for our family of 5 with 3 young kids (8yo, 6yo, 1.5yo) and our dog. I bought the firewood bundles and they are generously sized. The sites are nicely kept and comfortably spaced apart with very clean portapotties with sinks. We arrived very late at night and Tom was very helpful with getting us in, dropping off the firewood, then came by in the morning to give us all the info we needed. We played a little by the river, attempted the short sunset hike (we got a little confused with the trail and it was getting dark so we headed back), watched the cows graze, and had a great time building campfires and making smores. Definitely planning to come back again!

Site 6 - Rowan's Camp
Beautiful Camping Space
Site 6 - Rowan’s Bar is a beautiful spot with ample shade, privacy and access to the river. Tom, the ranch manager, is a delightful person and has a wealth of information about things to do/see on the property and the surrounding community. I’ll definitely be comping back and would fully recommend spending a few days hiking, fishing and swimming on the Cosumnes River!

Site 18 Turtle Rock
small group family camping trip
I already can't wait to go back! Loved everything about River Ranch. We had a family group of 5. Rachael was super helpful answering questions beforehand so we could pick a spot best for us. When we got there, Tom came to our site and welcomed us to shift over to a site that wasn't quite open yet for the year, that suited us much better. The property is gorgeous (very green in April) and our campsite was away enough to be completely private. Place has a great vibe. We'll be back!

Doing it Right
I visited for the first time in April for some Father/Son camping and it was fantastic. Everything was as advertised, if not better. I’ve been to several HipCamps and this rates quite high, in my opinion. I will be returning! From the gorgeous surroundings to the pleasant and helpful ranch folks, my son and I had a great time that we will not forget. They really did it right in terms of how its set up and it’s perfect for getting out into nature without going too far (less than 3hrs from Oakland).
