RIVER BEND CAMP GROUND

3 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Morgan, UT
We are currently in our late winter early spring mode and our property is at 4000 ft, conditions can change based on the weather. The river runs to high during this period and swimming or water use is not available. We have ten acres that our home sit on but about 9 acres and consist of dry farm grass. We use 1 acre for camping and parking. The Weber river runs across the back of our property where we have a campground with tables and firepits. We have added some wooden porta potty enclosed in small tents which we service every day or as needed. We do have firewood available at a very reasonable price but you can bring your own. We do not have potable water at our sites but we can and will provide water from our home if you provide your own container. Site selection is determined by type of sleeping accommodations. **We allow 2 adults per site and/or 2 adults and minor children per site. (Exceptions must be approved and additional fees paid) We are not a public campground and only list through Hipcamp and so our property is posted with NO TRESPASSING SIGNS. It is very important to let us know your approximate arrival time so that we can guide you down to the campgrounds and get you the best spot base on your type of camping. Sleeping in trailers versus tent campers) One draw back to our property is that we are within 1/2 mile of a well use highway (US 84) and railroad track. We have only had one camper who was concerned about the noise. Here at the house we don't notice it and maybe we are just use to it. Limited swimming and use of paddle board based on river conditions. During the winter we occasionally get snowed in and in the spring and early summer we experience high and swift water levels based on snow melt and prohibits using the river for swimming or other activities. Limited fishing is based on water levels with fly fishing being the best however you can use lures but not bait of any kind . We would prefer catch and release because the river is not stocked by the Utah fish and game. So, we are dependent on normal reproduction of the fish. ALL UTAH FISHING REGULATION APPLY. WE HAVE INDICATED WHEEL CHAIR ACCESSIBLE. THE WHOLE AREA IS BASICLLY LEVEL AND GRASS AND BARK COVERED.

Second Chance Ranch

1 site · Tent1 acre · Morgan, UT
My husband Shaun and I fell into rescuing horses quite by accident.  We started a non-profit to promote the Rescue, Rehab, Retrain and Rehome method to get horses out of bad situations and into good homes. We are a small rescue and hope to be much bigger one day!  Please come visit, enjoy our beautiful property and support an amazing non-profit cause while you are at it! Learn more about this land:We are a non-profit horse rescue situated on one acre. The best description I can give of our property is that it's great for a convenient and quaint "Stop and Sleep".  This is because we are located right off of the old main highway and have two neighbors within eyesight from the house. This site is very convenient for quick stays since it is so CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY this makes it convenient but may not be appropriate for very light sleepers or for extended stays.  The camping area is simple, with wild grass and a fire pit, bordered by the river on one side and the horse pasture on the other.  You can see and hear the river easily April-July. The river is seasonal and does dry up in mid July-August. Drinkable hose water is available near the house.  If you want a ranch-style camping experience with lots of interaction with your hosts and opportunity for adventure then you have chosen the right camping location! You are welcome to join in the daily choring activities or choose to be taken on a scenic trail ride or thrilling guided gallop on beautiful and well-trained rescue horses.PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom is located in our house and has a flushable toilet and shower with hot water. Bathroom hours are 8am-9pm.  Parking is located a few hundred feet from the campsite, just off of the road.  You must walk a few hundred feet to get to the campsite and you cannot pull your vehicle right up to it. While we do welcome car campers and pop-up trailers, just know you won't be parked at the campsite if you choose to sleep this way.  We look forward to having you camp with us!

The Hundred Acre Wood

4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents103 acres · UT
Originally homesteaded by Edwin Whiting in the 1870s, the upper reaches of Hobble Creek Canyon have been ranched by our family since 1901.  Edwin was a fruit farmer and I suspect that the lone pear tree still growing (and bearing fruit) on the ranch, may have been planted by him nearly 150 years ago.  Today we raise horses, but mostly we raise kids and spirits.  Come up, set a spell, and renew your soul.

Mountain View Tent Sites(2)

1 site · Tent1 acre · Morgan, UT
Learn more about this land: This tent site is right in a little scrub oak forest, nestled in the foothills below Snowbasin. Beautiful views of Morgan Valley, Snowbasin Ski resort, and a gateway to fun. We are semi-rural, so expect wild turkeys randomly visiting, along with our neighbor's chickens, and a rooster crowing. Maybe even a deer or moose, if lucky. A starry sky, because we don't have much light pollution. The site itself is tucked behind a hill, perfect for privacy, and is surrounded by scrub oak trees. Campers are welcome to use the fire pit area chairs and our portable propane fire place. There are some plug in bistro lights for camping ambiance and a power strip. There is drinkable water at the faucet by our front porch. Cooking with a propane camp stove is ok. There is a screened compost toilet, power strip for charging needs, and a picnic table at each site, Because of Utah's extreme drought, no smoking is permitted. Generally no dogs except service, but perhaps negotiable. The sites are a short walk down a trail, so not wheelchair accessible. The parking spot is level, & could work for a rooftop tent or camper van, but it is in partial view of my neighbor's house, which the camp sites are not. Things to do: You can hike right from the site to Strawberry Creek (about 3 mile trail) 10 minutes from Snowbasin (skiing, hiking, mountain biking) 15 minutes from Morgan ( ATV rentals, Horseback riding, burgers and bars) 15 minutes from Ogden ( you would never notice) 15 minutes from tubing the Weber river 20 minutes from Boating or swimming at Pineview in Eden, or in East Canyon

The best camping near Wasatch Mountain State Park guide

Overview

About

Wintertime? Ski down the mountain that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics—or enjoy snowmobiling through the Alpine meadows, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, plus tubing and a biathlon course.

Summertime? Reserve a tee time at one of the four Soldier Hollow golf courses at Wasatch Mountain (fans prefer the Mountain Course). Or opt for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or visiting historical sites. Try Little Deer Creek if you're lookin' to blaze your ATV down the trail.

Campsites are closed during the winter (hint: there's lots of snow). During the summer, you've got 122 tent and RV sites to choose from. Amenities include hot showers, hookups, and picnic areas.

Four group sites (+ 1 primitive group site) let you hang with all your friends, or check out The Chalet (a lodge with a real kitchen!) for your group as well.

Notable campgrounds

  • Pine Creek Campground: A tranquil retreat surrounded by lush forestry, ideal for reconnecting with nature.
  • Chalet Campground: Near the park's Chalet, this site offers convenience and stunning greenery.
  • New Campground: Currently under construction, this campground promises modern facilities amid the park's beauty.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your spot, as campgrounds fill up quickly during peak seasons.
  • Consider visiting during the weekdays for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Keep an eye on the park's website for updates on the new campground's opening and reservation details.
  • Explore nearby camping options if your preferred site is booked, ensuring you don't miss out on the Wasatch experience.

When to go

The best time to visit Wasatch Mountain State Park is during the summer and fall when the weather is warm and the landscape is vibrant. Winter offers a snowy wonderland for cold-weather activities, though some facilities may be limited. Spring can be unpredictable with rain and snowmelt.

Know before you go

  • Check the weather forecast and prepare for changing conditions, especially if you're venturing into higher elevations.
  • Some areas may be subject to closures for maintenance or wildlife protection; always respect signage and barriers.
  • Accessibility varies across the park; inquire ahead for specific needs or accommodations.
  • Remember to pack out all trash and leave no trace to preserve the park's natural beauty.
  • For any concerns or questions during your visit, reach out to a park ranger or staff member for assistance.
