Welcome to Sawdust FarmCamp! Located in Geneva, Ohio. We have four different sites to choose from: 1 tent site, 2 glamping tent sites, and 1 cabin. We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15 person retreat with spacial extras only available for that listing. Portable toilet available, pets welcome, campfires permitted. Potable water and hot water showers are only available at or cabin and our glamping sites only have solar camp showers (not the tent site). New hot showers are being planned for the 2024 season. Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Glamping Bell Tent in Wine Country
This was a very fun and enjoyable trip. The yurt has a very comfortable bed with several nice amenities including a mess kit, hammock, several battery-powered lights, nightstands, and extra chairs. The hosts provided firewood as well as drinking and washing water. It rained hard on the last night but everything inside the yurt stayed dry. Our two kids slept comfortably in sleeping bags on the yurt floor. You share a parking spot with the cabin site but there is enough distance between the sites that you cannot see one another and the yurt site has its own outhouse. The review email asked if I would recommend this site and I said "not sure" as I was somewhat disappointed there was no solar shower as advertised. The outdoor solar-powered string of lights seen in the pictures are present but no longer functioning. The wagon to haul supplies was there but one of the tires is blown out. I reached out to the host about these things and she was apologetic and stated they had tried to update the information but the site glitched and left the old information in place. She said they have plans to update the website and make further improvements to the campsite itself. The cleaning fee was more pricey than I expected (it's about the same as a one-night stay). Still enjoyable, it's a great spot to get away, especially if you're just looking to relax by the fire in the woods without wanting to haul in firewood or set up a tent.

Pond View Tent Site in Wine Country
Overall it was nice to unwind and disconnect. We were a little bit disappointed in the condition of the site and that it was so public. The campsite had not been mowed in a while and the picnic table had not been moved to be mowed around in a long time either. It was really hard to sit at the picnic table without the grass tickling your legs and knees. The fire pit was full of ashes and trash was left behind from previous campers. Which would have been discovered if the picnic table was moved to be mowed under. We were told that there would be a load of firewood but there were only a few pieces and then two large stumps left behind. Thankfully my haband brought his axe or else we wouldnt have had wood. It seemed much more public than we thought it would be. The owners dog came over and although she was very sweet, she did jump on our tent a few times to get to our dogs (who we put in the tent because they get anxious around other dogs). We could see and hear the kids jumping on the trampoline and them mowing their yard. we just felt very "out in the open" persay and not very private. But that did not discourage us from still having a good time. It was a beautiful property and the woman we talked too (owner) was very nice and apologetic about her dog. A great place to consider. Just keep these few things in mind, although there are plenty of other sites which we hope to try out!
