The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has just been set up as conservation easement protected land. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing. What a gem!!!
The waters surrounding Spruill Farm were absolutely MAGICAL! Even with the other sites occupied, it was so private and peaceful. We absolutely loved having such close access for kayaking on the sound, where we could pull our boats out directly at our site. Site 1 was very spacious and had many options for tent camping. Quality firewood was available at the site along with a convenient port-a-potty and water well. Great trails and wildlife all around. Host was very responsive and friendly. Such an amazing spot, we cannot wait to visit again soon!

Nature-lovers haven.
Spruill Farm was the perfect spot for us! We enjoyed the quiet, even though there were other families on either side of us. The sound of the water against the bulkhead lulled is to sleep after taking in a beautiful sunset. The sunrise was equally as stunning. We enjoyed walking trails on the farm and checking out the fig trees and gardens. It gave us a deeper appreciation of how hard farmers work to bring us healthy foods. Lincoln and Julia were friendly and attentive to all our needs. Communication and directions were perfect. We also felt very safe here with the locked gate. We would definitely return. .

Great experience!
Absolutely loved this location! I was fortunate enough to be by myself (due to the incoming rain presumably) which made the experience even greater. This would be a great location to have numerous friends/family come to book the two other spots as well. None of the spots are too close together and the directions were easy to follow on how to get to the location. I used google maps with the coordinates with no problem. Highly recommend renting a kayak- beautiful to be surrounded by the bald cypress trees! I would definitely visit here again.

We had a group of 6 spread across sites 1 & 2. Had a great experience even with a rainy Saturday. Will definitely be back!

Epic weekend!
What an awesome weekend! The campsite was great; it was right next to the water and very private. Looking forward to coming and camping here again. Julia was great, communicated really well, and made sure everything was perfect for our arrival. Great host! Thanks for an epic weekend!
