Some issues on a quick stay
I would say this is best recommended for the tent camper or primitive cabin option. The views from on top of the hill at those sites was the best. Pretty and peaceful.
The communication was tricky. Jack owns the property but Lona is the one on site. We were coming into town and it was calling for tornado-like storms. I sent a message asking for advice but didn’t hear back. I texted 30 min out but didn’t realize there was a separate number for Lona than what was on the account. We arrived and it took awhile to get ahold of her. Once we did, she was sweet and helpful and let us move to site 4 since site 1 was covered with flies. She explained it was because of the storm and they did seem to disappear as the evening went on.
We expected to see horses but you have to book ahead to have them around? I’m not sure as Lona said it appeared her message to me about them did not go through. The kids were disappointed bc they were looking forward to seeing them.
We were the only camper there which was nice bc the sites were close together. It would’ve been nice if the grass was mowed where the RV’s go to cut down on ticks. We found one on the wall in our camper and one on my daughter’s skull. 😬
There is a light pole by the RV sites which helped to get to the porta potty at night (which was clean) but make sure you have black out shades, which we did not, as the light is bright.
The hike is worth it and our family enjoyed going up the hill and taking in some sights.

A Slice of Midwest Paradise
This place is amazing. If you’re looking to get in touch with nature, this is the place. The host is so kind and attentive. The cabins are perfect, with UNREAL views. The trails and lake are perfect. Get off the grid and getaway at this place.

Loved the site, had many trails to explore on bike or on foot. Great opportunities for views, fishing, biking and many other activities. Hosts were friendly and very inviting, they have maps of all the trails on the property and know pretty much everything you can do there.

Beautiful property. Nice fishing and pretty walks. Lona was wonderful. Got an awful thunder storm overnight and we were dry and safe in cabin 2. Sun came up and had a lovely walk.
